I think this article brings up an interesting point (at least to me.)Unless there is a sure fire Franchise QB in the draft (think Andrew Luck) then it does a team NO good to draft a mediocre-good QB early in the first.As mentioned in the article, teams don't have to get them at the top of the round, where they can go and pick the truely elite athletes... (think Suh, McCoy) at the other key positions...Since 2001 there have been 9 (25%) no joke franchise QB's drafted in the first round (Luck in 2012, Newton in 2011, Ryan and Flacco in 2008, Cutler in 2006, Rodgers in 2005, Manning, Rivers, Rothlisberger in 2004) out of 36 first round QB's selected (most of these guys picked top five Rodgers/Culter are the exception.)Bridgewater is the only guy I think is a true top of the 1st round prospect. Everyone else is at best middle of the first to much later. The more I think about this - I just don't see Smith/Licht/Tedford getting a QB at 7. No value.

2 starters in the last 20 years isn't even accurate as Rodgers has missed time to injury, something Favre didn't do....but best of all time? No that's an opinion. The names Manning, Brady, Marino come to mind before them.
