Bowles has got to be gone at season end. The only way he's not is if the team decides to side with him and basically clean out the D and start over. I don't see that happening.
Is that because of moving Tykee Smith into the role closer to the LOS? I assume AWJ is better in open space than Smith.
Either way though, I have to look back at the 4th down play but live its basic Cover 2 but no safety out there

argueably our first and second or third best players on defense. But yep every team does have injuries. Our 2023 offense the only healthy unit all year in recent memory.
unfortunately if we make the playoffs Bowles isn’t going anywhere. If he does get fired though I’d promote Larry Foote to DC & defensive play caller.

yeah are we kidding ourselves guys. You don't keep anyone on the damn staff in terms of promoting to important positions such as coordinators.
this isn't a Monte Kiffin/Jon Gruden situation where we have a dominate unit and a new head coach would be okay with not bringing in their own coordinator. Bucs D was dominate force so of course new head coach would be okay with it.

Low effort. Players don't swarm. Lots of loafing. General bad body language then they pan to Bowles just staring off into space.

Because its the 50th anniversary they are running highlights on the jumbotrons and so when you see highlights of the 79 defense or Brooks/Sapp defense, you see gang tackling na d everyone flying around the filed. The current Bucs defense is many guys going through the motions.
I dont want to be too hard on the guy because he made a CLUTCH strip sack when it mattered, but if you watched the game over and focused only on Reddick you would see him fake tackling pretty often. Falling into space or on top of a pile. Same thing with a number of players.

Bowles is probably gone, but I dont think the soft cover is play calling or coaching as much as its a total lack of discipline. I posted this somewhere else but watch the 4th down completion late. Ask yourself what AWJ, who some though as an early HOF candidate, is actually doing on the play?
I get that safeties on a struggling defense get exposed because they are trying to cover MORE than their responsibility BUT isnt this easy completion by the Falcons RIGHT in his zone? and he isnt even close? If its tampa 2 (I think it is) the rookie DB below him is playing it correctly in accounting for the short receiver and has appropriately passed the deeper receiver off . .. but no AWJ. I think he's in the middle of the field?
BOWLES IS STILL RESPONSIBLE, so I am just pointing this out to say the D is more F'd then play calling or scheme. It has multiple payers, including key players like AWJ, not doing their basic job.

Again situational football 4th and 14 Im the flat corner I know if they check it down and i go downhill hard enough i can stop the running back from picking up 14 yards, But i nkow my safety is in a bind if this widereceiver keeps going vertical I have to carry him and make this a harder throw.

I said this in another thread but again guys are doing the RIGHT thing, but there is stagnation and lack of development and understanding the nuances of what they can and cant do in certain coverages. For me to carry the receiver I'm gonna know hey its 4th and 14 if he checks it down I trust my teammates and I can rally and stop the 14 yard checkdown but I also know its cover 2 and the weaknesses in cover 2 are the hole shot between the cb and safety and the MOF pole runner.
I have to protect my safety and carry the receiver because its likely Cousins goes deep instead of shallow

Its also why kickoff coverage stinks. When you put on film guys that are going go downhill on you and lay a lick it makes the runner think twice about going full speed.
