Dallas has as of yet not let us talk to him, and Rod "May" threaten to retire if he can't do that.

Nope, some Dallas reporter said they've not given permission, and i think it was TKras that said Rod may retire if they don't

No. He will have to wait until the contract expires even if he retires.

His contract expires after this year though. He'd only have to retire 1 season.

I read the tweet from TKras... don't read too much into it. That was not something he  heard from Marinelli, he simply suggested that was a tactic that Marinelli could employ if the Cowboys blocked access to him.

well what would happen if he just walked away from his contract?  They cant lock him up for it.  What are the rules when it comes to that, someone please explain?

I doubt Jerry will care much.  Might just block him out of spite at that point

I think someone above said he would have to sit out for the length of the contract.

Actually they can.  Due to the monopoly exemption granted to the NFL the league is regulated as a Federal Public Utility.  Breach of contract is punishable by fines of up to $100,000 and up to 6 years in prison http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Contract_Law_NFL
