an experienced NFL offensive coordinator who has had success at the NFL level.

For the most part, aren't those type of coaches either under contract or head coaching candidates?

Somewhat related to whether we draft a Qb or not is Jeff Tedford; seems to me, Mike Glennon fits Tedford better than these other prospects.  I would still draft Manziel; he's just one of those guys . . .

Norv Turner's HC in Cleveland just got fired, Brian Billick has been doing TV, and Hue Jackson is Cincinnati's. RBs coach...2 of the 3 are under NFL contracts, but all 3 could be had IMO with a little persistence...these are just examples...SMH at Tedford

"who has a connection to this team's past glory"And that's important why?

Are you serious?I'm convinced you're just here to be negative about anything and everything.

If Schiano were still here he'd be excited. He'd be telling everyone one else how much of a non-fan they were for not supporting the coach.

I couldn't be more pleased that the Buccaneers have released Greg Schiano and hired Lovie Smith as the new HC. Lovie is a coach that I personally lobbied OBP to hire. I'm not dumb enought to think that my efforts had any effect on that decision, but it seems to me that he's the right man at the right time. This team needed a guy who understands the players, who can work well with them, who has a connection to this team's past glory, and has extensive experience as well as immediately respect around the league.I know that not everyone loves this hire as much as I do, but right now I'm pretty happy about it.

You can count me as one of the ones that loves this move.  I had hopes the Bucs would find a way to bring Lovie back when I first heard rumblings about the Bears thinking about firing him the year before they actually did.  I can't wait to see that swarm to the football/force turnovers style of defense back in TB!  I hear all the blah blah blah about this being an offensive league now, and Lovie's struggles on that side of the ball are well documented.  But the Bucs have always been, and in my mind, will always be a defensive team.  We just need a competent offense that can compliment a great defense.  I don't know whether or not Tedford (or whoever becomes the OC) can bring that level of competence, but I know Lovie can bring out greatness on the defensive side of the ball.

Norv Turner might be the HC in Cleveland.  He's not coming to be an OC in Tampa.Brian Billick isn't leaving the booth to be a coordinator.  He won a fuggin' Superbowl as a HC.Hue Jackson?  You want to fill me in on where he was successful in the NFL as an OC?  Washington - nope.  Atlanta - nope.  Oakland - yes for one season, and then his HC career followed.
