Random sidenote.. the thing not being talked about enough is Wirfs moving to LT. sorry for those who dont want to mess up a good thing... but it has to happen regardless of which direction we go in draft, FA, coaching... we have a once in a franchise talent at tackle.. the kid has mega ability - he can make the move and be a pro bowl LT.. the timing to make that switch couldnt possibly be better than now. Not to mentioned weve witnessed scrubs sub in at RT and preform adequately. that has not been the case at LT.
I agreed, before I found out he had never played LT - even in college. It's also worth noting that good pass rushers bounce all around the LOS. They don't just line up exclusively at RDE any longer.
He's probably good enough to make the transition (although it would definitely take time) but I think I'd rather keep the All-Pro guy at his natural position. Licht needs to find a good LT.
Plus the fact that it could ease cap issues to have a LT on a rookie contract.
If we're starting Trask, Id feel kinda bad for Bowles if he doesnt have an extra year of job security assured to him.
I wouldn’t. He’s simply not a good head coach.
Had a chance to fire Lefty and passed. The team looked like it took on his personality.
Helluva nice guy and good DC.
But, barring a miracle deep run next season; we should blow the whole damn thing up (from a coaching perspective).
Get younger minds in the building. Get modern.
He failed year 1 as HC. I cant say hes simply not a good HC yet. He delegates what is not his area of expertise, which is fine. The problem is he was strapped with an incompetent OC who was gifted a job by Arians and a decimated Oline. What was he going to do if he fired Leftwich after the bye? hand the OC off to Clyde? Either way we were still going to have an Oline with D.Smith playing the worst of his career, no Jensen, and finishing the year with our LG injured and Wirfs banged up. Id just be careful what you wish for.. our defense had no business getting 45 sacks with that Dline.. thats a major credit to Bowles. we are a decent Dlineman away from being a top 5 sack team.
also that was a majorly disappointing clown show of a season.. yet the off the record reports are that the players all love Bowles.. I find that interesting tbh. I was fully expecting to hear some gripes leaking through. Any through the grapvine talk about Bradys discontent has been specific towards "offensive coaching staff".
great take

He played LT for a few games at Iowa.. id have to dig to find out how he did.. he probably did awesome. the reason why Iowa kept Wirfs at RT though is because their other tackle at the time, Alaric Jackson, couldnt make the switch to RT. He was specifically only able to move comfortably on the left so they kept Wirfs on the right side.
All those guys who were fired were Arians guys. Why would we go ahead and hire one of them?
Arians:
SB winning HC
in the Ring of Honor
Senior Football Consultant
"helped bring Brady here"
Some good coaches have a long list of successes from their coaching tree and some have a shorter list. I think Arians really tried hard to be a mentor and develop coaches, but you can't teach Bruce Arians. His personality is his, and it's what made him an effective coach. For whatever reason, in regards to his Buccaneers tenure, a lot of his coaching tree just got the pink slip. The Arians coaching tree looks a little like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree right now. But getting fired is part of the NFL coaching experience and maybe these guys will get more opportunities elsewhere.
Leftwich got the boot, but you have to think Bowles is probably not totally enamored with the offense that was handed down to him either. So I don't see him hiring a guy from within to run the same offense.
Re the players love for Bowles. Refer to the culture change article. It’s human nature to love your boss when he doesn’t make you work as hard as the previous boss.
The Bucs only had 8 wins this year with Brady. He failed year 1 as HC. I cant say hes simply not a good HC yet.
This was Year 5 for him as a HC.
He has a 34-50 record.
And 8 of those were with him getting gifted a playoff caliber team.
As I said, now knowing that he could of made a move at OC going into the bye and standing pat, just makes me wonder about his decision making/ability to adapt/etc.
He’ll get a year. But, unless he drastically changes in many areas, I’m not giving him beyond 2023.
Fair enough.. i have no loyalties towards him. I just know that if the Glazers feel that way as well, and were starting Trask in 2023 than obviously Bowles is done.
I dont see 8 wins with Trask next year.

I know you don’t have loyalties to him.
You’re spot on with a lot of this.
Next season’s team will most likely be worse from a talent perspective, and had Trask been the signal caller this year; we’re probably in #1 overall draft pick convos territory (Byron was that bad).
Will be interesting to see who they bring in at OC.
Bill O'Brien needs to coach at the U of Texas, he has their logo embedded in his chin.
The Arians coaching tree looks a little like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree right now.
That is a great line! LOL
The #Buccaneers have requested permission to interview #Jaguars pass-game coordinator Jim Bob Cooter for their offensive coordinator job, per sources. Veteran coach helped Jacksonville rank 10th in passing offense with Trevor Lawrence at QB.
Bucs will interview Broncos passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak
#Bucs are interviewing former Bucs WR Keenan McCardell for the role of offensive coordinator. McCardell is the Vikings WRs coach
So it looks like established OC’s are off the table?
Kubiak was Vikes OC 2 years ago
Cooter Lions a cpl years ago
