It's a pretty safe bet that unless Licht has some 5 year plan and some foresight into what would make this team great that none of us can fathom, the likelihood of this being a defensive heavy draft is pretty strong. Especially since Licht wants to find 4-5 starters this draft. The best chance to finding those five would be on defense. * This was inspired by a thread from a few months ago. Too lazy to find original thread. Plus reading an article about Keenan Reynolds has me thinking. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000651858/article/keenan-reynolds-encounters-unique-disadvantage-in-draft-prep *But what if for some reason he focused on the offensive side of the ball. Except maybe 2 picks. Just think about it. QB is literally the only position on offense that this team is set. You may even say RBs if the plan is to only carry two but chances are the goal would be to carry three plus a fullback. Are there mid to late round picks that would be worth the shot. A few people on the boards are down for picking Stanley at 9 or Conklin in the 2nd/3rd round. Some would take a shot on Braxton Miller in the third. Some would say that baby gronk may be worth a 4/5 round pick, although there's no guarantee for his success just because of his relations to Rob. I was curious what people would think about trying Keenan Reynolds in rounds 6/7 as a running back. Draft Scenario:RD1: DL/maybe Stanley RD2: DL RD3: Braxton Miller RD4: Baby Gronk RD5: Keenan Reynolds RD6a/b: DB/LBYeah the team NEEDS DEFENSE. I'm not advocating for Licht to go offense, and honestly I don't expect it to happen. Humor me anyways. What if? What if Licht and Koetter believes that focusing on the offense one more time, working to make it as explosive as possible is in the best interest of the defense. With Winston at the helm, building around him wouldn't be a terrible idea. Make the offense great now with a young nucleus and work on improving the defense next year and with scheme changes. We never know, the players on this roster has the talent to be at least an average defense with Mike Smith as D. Coordinator. With a potent offense, a team would only need a decent defense to win games. The offense scores points, extends drives and keep the defense off the field, so when they get on they can pin their ears back and get at it because of them being well rested. I'm all about throwing out the What Ifs. What do you guys think about this?
