Who said that a running game can't win games in today's football. The Seahawks won with good defense and Marshawn Lynch with Wilson only throwing 100 yards. Patriots put up 40 without Brady throwing one TD and rushing for 200 yards and 5 touchdowns. Yes passing games are nice but it still seems like a good rushing games and solid defense can still win championships.Thats why I think it is definitly possible to win championships with a QB like Glennon. No he may not throw it for 5000 yards and 40 TD, but he won't turn the ball over much and let us rely on the the running game and defense, which to everyone's disbelief can still win in today's football. Look at Carolina and San Fran, they're where they are because of the running game and defense.
I can't name too many teams who can field a good enough oline and set of backs to consistently put up good rushing numbers though. It's a nice trick to bust out for the playoffs, but it's too difficult to build a team around that style of play unless you also have a QB who can finish the job and get some TDs. He doesn't have to pass for a lot of yards but he does need to get a lot of TDs.
Most Qbs throw for mid 20 TDs. Glennon threw for 19 as a rookie with a lack of supporting cast and only starting 12 games. Seems some of the best teams in the league are built on a solid running game and good defense. Luck, Newton, Wilson, Kaepernick all had mid twenties TDs touchdowns yet all are or had made noise in the playoffs.

Let's hope tedford can bring an innovative offense. Shianos tight heavy sets running the ball are a thing of the past. Part of the reason those teams are so effective is the guys they have playing QB. With Wilson you have to account for him as a runner and QB that is going to extend the play. Essentially, you better be sure the ball is where you think it is going before you commit. With Brady working the spread you better play pass first or he will thrive. Playing man won't work because Brady is like a CPU back there and finds the open man. Consequently, in both cases you could argue that the reason they are so effective running the ball is because of the QB. Do you think Glennon can emulate either guy in time? If not, you will see more men in the box and a less than stellar results even if we improve the OL. If we stick with Glennon, I sure hope he improves. I liked what I saw of him, but it only told me he belongs in the league. Also, I do not think he did enough to say he us our guy, if the potential franchise guy is out there for the taking via the draft or trade.
