NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Rankings: Week 2 by Matt LaPan    8h ago Rook1_Zpsc6Awluje.jpgIn most years, teams and fans are wondering how their rookies will perform after two weeks of action. In 2015, there is no need to question – some of these rookies are ready for prime time. Players such as Leonard Williams, Vic Beasley and Marcus Peters have already been shining on the biggest stage, and are just growing into their roles.Where does your team’s rookie rank in this week’s NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year rankings? Who was the biggest mover? Who fell off the list? Find out in this week’s NFL Spin Zone Defensive Rookie of the Year Rankings.Rook2_Zpsg5Enc1Sz.jpg10) Denzel Perryman – San Diego Chargers (Week 1 Rank: N/A)The numbers have not been eye-popping, but Perryman has been quite impressive as a run-stuffer. He brings toughness to the Chargers defense. His five tackles against Cincinnati were strong, and he showed great growth.9) Henry Anderson – Indianapolis Colts (Week 1 Rank: 5)Anderson was the surprise defensive performer in Week 1. His five tackles in Week 2 were not as impressive, but he did still look good. He did collect his first sack of his NFL career, but showed a little weakness against the run.Rook3_Zpsyladheox.jpg8 Kwon Alexander – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Week 1 Rank: N/A)Alexander is moving up the NFL rookie charts in tackles. He had eight against New Orleans in an impressive performance. Alexander also showed a better than expected ability against the pass, getting a pass deflection for the second consecutive week. Alexander’s growth through Training Camp and into the season has been evident.7) Hau’oli Kikaha – New Orleans Saints (Week 1 Rank: 8Kikaha is continuing to be an impressive rookie for New Orleans. He collected seven tackles and his first career sack in the loss to Tampa Bay. Kikaha also forced a fumble for the second consecutive week. His continued impressive performances will be key to the Saints trying to turn around their slow start.Rook4_Zpsvxghn7Vy.jpg6) Bud Dupree – Pittsburgh Steelers (Week 1 Rank: 10)Dupree continued to do exactly what the Steelers drafted him for, rush the passer. He has two sacks over his two career games, but has been more stout against the run than many thought. Dupree has six total tackles. While the tackles are nice, Dupree’s stock will continue to rise if he continues to get after the quarterback.5) Stephone Anthony – New Orleans Saints (Week 1 Rank: 3)Anthony is another good, rookie linebacker in New Orleans. His run stuffing ability has been on full display through two weeks of his career. He has 11 total tackles following a seven-tackle performance in Week 2. He diagnoses the plays well and attacks the line of scrimmage. The linebackers in New Orleans have been one of the bright spots in an otherwise dismal start to the Saints reason.Rook5_Zpsxvtij3Nv.jpg4) Leonard Williams – New York Jets (Week 1 Rank: 6)Williams has helped stabilize the defensive line in New York after losing Sheldon Richardson. His strong play has kept the defense in a high level and allows the defenders behind him to roam and make plays. Williams has not registered a sack yet, but he has been pushing the pocket and causing problems for opposing offenses.3) Ronald Darby – Buffalo Bills (Week 1 Rank: 2)The Buffalo defense had a rough day against Tom Brady and the Patriots, but Darby still showed some positives. He had four tackles and two passes defended. He continued to show that he has the skills of a NFL starter, and should be a big piece for the Bills going forward.Rook6_Zpscxptxke4.Jpg2) Vic Beasley – Atlanta Falcons (Week 1 Rank: 7)Vic Beasley was the dynamic playmaker that the Falcons expected when they drafted him, in Week 2. He had five tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. He looked fast off the line of scrimmage and bent the edge extremely well. It has been up and down for Beasley, but Week 2 should give Falcons fans hope that he might be the best rookie defender in the NFL.1) Marcus Peters – Kansas City Chiefs (Week 1 Rank: 1)Peters is not just in line for being the best defensive rookie in the NFL, he is on track to be the best rookie on either side of the ball. Peters has been strong in run support, collecting 12 total tackles – but it has been his pass defending that has been great. Peters has seven pass defenses on the season, adding two interceptions to that. His latest interception was a pick-six against Peyton Manning, where he showed ball skills, recognition and speed. His skills and raw athleticism have made him a major factor in Kansas City.link
