One of four players can fall into Bucs’ lap by Gil Arcia February 21, 2014 Many analysts are beginning to piece the ever growing puzzle of what college player fits where. CBS Sports’ Rob Rang is no different. Making a guest appearance on the Ron and Ian Show on 620 WDAE, Rang was asked about who he felt was the best option for the Bucs at pick No. 7. Here was his response.“Well we talked about Greg Robinson from Auburn. If he’s still available he certainly makes some sense,” Rang said. “Jake Matthews from Texas A&M, my opinion, will be the safest pick in this NFL draft. He started at right tackle, left tackle, some people out there think his best position might end up being guard. I think he’s a lot like his dad, Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews in that he can do anything that you need him to do, just get out of his way. To me, those are certainly some players that make the most sense.“If you’re looking for a pass rusher then Anthony Barr from UCLA. Khalil Mack from Buffalo. Neither are getting the attention [Jadeveon] Clowney of course, but considering the fact they are going to see as many quarterbacks go off the board — at least what I anticipate — then I think that the Bucs are going to have one of those four players fall into their lap.”Rang does have a point. The top three quarterbacks heading into the draft — Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, and Teddy Bridgewater — could very well be selected ahead of the Bucs. That’ll leave them with any of the above four as well as possibly Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins and Clowney. And why not? Crazier things have happened.Rang would also talk about the comparisons of Bridgewater to Manziel as well as provide some more insight on other draft prospects. If they pick the way they should then the 3 quarterbacks, Clowney and Watkins go top 5. Atlanta could go Mack or Robinson and we pick the other.
With the showing the Top 3 OT put on today and the question marks on each of the top 3 QB's I wouldn't be to surprised to see the QB's fall. If Houston takes Clowney and the Rams take a OT, will the Jags, Browns and Raiders all take QB's? Maybe, maybe not. Atlanta is not taking a QB. The Bucs could also have one of the top 3 QB's fall to them at #7. That would be interesting.

Atlanta could also trade down with Minny if the Vikes like who is falling.
JMO, but I think 2 of the top 3 quarterbacks will be picked along with Clowney before we pick. My guess is that Manziel will be available as the QB. I'm thinking that the Rams will go with Matthews and Atlanta will have a tough choice between Robinson and Mack. Watkins is also probably gone to the Jags or Raiders.I think whomever Atlanta doesn't take between Mack and Robinson will ultimately be our pick. I don't think we'll pick Manziel, however, if any QB is there, it'll be tempting for us to pick, but I think we'll also get a good offer to trade down.

This is actually where the QB trade is actually likely to happen IMO. Since teams will know we're on the fence for a QB, Atlanta would be the logical point to make the trade and get the last of the top 3.

Agree. JFF could be in for a slide. Maybe not a Aaron Rodgers type slide, but close.
I can see JFF sliding. I predict it. But I think he will be damn good, unlike most.

You could be right B-man. But at this point in time, I don't think the Bucs should roll the dice on an iffy player. They need to rebuild with good, solid draft picks and free agents.JFF would be a great pick for a contender. Where they could bring him along at their own pace, instead off throwing him to the wolves in snap 1 of the 2014 regular season. I do understand peoples excitement for him though.
I'm starting to think ATL may take Watkins and go DE and OL in FA. White isn't getting any younger and Jones is beginning to be injury prone.
As much as people here have said glennon is a good backup/possible starter, now would be a perfect time to roll the dice.

Or.....roll with Glennon for 2014. And if need be, draft a guy in the 2015 draft. This QB class is meh.

If he last that long. A great pick for someone.
We pick at 7 so one of these guys will be thereBridgewaterBortlesManzielRobinsonMackClowneyWatkinsSo, I'm good with 7
I think if Robinson or Mathews falls to us at 7, which I believe one or the other probably will. We should snatch them up. This will make Penn's lazy arse expendable and we should cut him to give us more cap room. Then I say we take the best available OG in round 2 and drop Joseph too. This free's up nice cap space to go get a DE pass rusher (Jared Allen) and I think Macklin would make a nice slot home run threat we need. We can have our choice of Hester/Mccluster to handle KR/PR duties and provide depth at WR. Both make sense (Hester ties to Smith), (McCluster from Largo). This scenario does not land us a stud tight end that I think would open our offense up big time...but we cant get everything in one year. Thoughts?
