Not sure if this merits a new thread but ...

We all know that Jameis -- like most of us -- only succeeds when he is loose and comfortable and enjoying his work. It was obvious yesterday that Jameis was the opposite of all those things. He was not himself. He was not playing instinctively. He was in his head.

Growing up I was an all-star little league baseball player for many years until about age 14 when I started to overthink everything. After that I sucked. As a third baseman I shot putted the ball to first rather than hurling it because I was thinking too much about how to throw it with proper technique and accuracy. My batting also suffered from overthinking.

We won't know whether Jameis still has a chance at success in this league until we see him out there relaxed and smiling and comfortable. If he is all that and still makes boneheaded decisions, then I will give up on him. Until then I withold judgment.

If anyone get Jameis to settle down and have fun despite all that is riding on this season for Jameis, it is Bruce. Let's hope he can work his magic and calm his QB down. I believe Jameis can be great if coached properly. But that is a tall order and the jury is out whether Bruce can do it. And if I'm wrong about Jameis, no coach can fix him.
