Every pick has made the final 53. That is a good start.

Vea - DT

TBD. No games under his belt during preseason. I'm a believer in Vea's ability to consistently collapse the pocket or hump/rip and get upfield + dominate the point of attack or make plays away from the ball in the run game. He can play 0 through 5 tech, one gap or two gap. However, we haven't seen it yet, so transition to the pro game is yet to be confirmed.

Jones - RB

This one isn't looking good. He was a one-dimensional back when selected and that dimension didn't emerge in any of PS1 - 4. However, he has shown some improvement in pass protection and made a play on a Go route down the field (and actually looked pretty natural catching that ball). Right now, his gears are turning slowly upstairs and that is inhibiting his aggression and decisiveness in both Man and Zone runs. As of now, he doesn't have any business splitting carries with Barber and UFA Wilson is a better option than him in all phases (his totes on the ground have looked very good and he's very developed in the passing game). There is a better than fair chance that he'll figure it out and be a solid contributor to our running game in the future, but you don't draft RBs at the top of the 2nd to sit on the bench their first year. Right now, this isn't a good pick.

Davis and Stewart - 2nd round DBs

Davis has looked great and not just in Press. My guess is he ends up playing as our boundary CB opposite Grimes. We've shown a lot more Press this PS and that plays into his strong-suit. I forsee us playing more Press Man and more C3Z and allowing him to play Press - Bail or Reroute - Trail (a la Seattle). He'll be good in either of those.

Stewart, like Davis has played pretty well in the role that has been defined for him. He's a physical, instinctive player who tackles well and is a solid coverage player on routes inside of intermediate. However, I still saw him mauling people downfield and he still struggled to locate and defend the ball in the air when it was downfield. There were a handful of plays where he was lucky to not draw a flag and lucky that the receiver didn't make a play on the ball (where they could have). If they keep him inside as a hybrid Nickel/Sam/3rd Safety and let him cover Seam/Hook or Flat or Running Backs on their typical tree, then he'll be an asset. If he is covering TEs down the field or quick/shifty Slot receivers on pivot routes, he is likely to struggle (meaning draw flags for his propensity to grab at route stems or to lose with the ball in the air).

Cappa - OL

Fair amount of preseason struggles in both Pass Pro and in the running game. This isn't Ali Marpet part 2. Right not, he feels a little positionless. He has struggled (just like in the Senior Bowl) to transfer his play strength when he is doing anything that isn't firing forward off the LoS. He has struggled in 45 and vertical sets in Pass Pro and he hasn't been great (I'd say average) in the Zone running game. We haven't run a ton of Gap in the preseason so I haven't seen him pull on Power O so I can't comment there. Ask him to combo block and climb 2nd level in the Man running game and he does a good job.

Right now, I see him as a Tackle Eligible option and depth at OG and OT (hopefully developing into a starter at RG or RT down the line).

Whitehead - Safety

He played quite well in the snaps that I saw. All 22 isn't available in the Preseason starting this year, so I can't comment fully, but from what I was able to gather upon review is that he has very good football speed and instincts and he is physical in his run support. This seems to be a strong pick thus far, especially if he is playing well on Teams. Could possibly supplant Conte this year.

Watson - WR

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Chris Godwin-like. Extremely polished and confident for a rookie. Great play speed, very good route runner, makes plays on the ball in the air, very good hands, solid after the catch. I can't comment on his technique and physicality in the running game as I didn't get enough evidence there, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was solid there as well.

Great pick.

Cichy - LB

He performed well enough to make the team in a competitive LB situation and he didn't get hurt. That is a good start. He is surely still getting his body back as he recovers from injury, but this is a low-risk, high-reward pick given where he was chosen.

Another good pick.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

Pretty big variation here with the classically Buc 2nd round pick struggles. I don't expect Jones and Cappa to contribute much to this team this year. High 2nd round pick and your 3rd round pick not contributing much their rookie year isn't great. However, several picks are likely to contribute significantly to the 2018 Bucs and have plenty of ceiling left in them.
