I saw this piece the other day and it caught my eye for a few of reasons. To start off with a couple:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/04/18/with-burkhead-and-gillislee-signings-patriots-buy-into-analytics/

1) It's just another example of how important analytics are and how much the Patriots use them (and have for a long time). Although Belichick is publicly dismissive of analytics, we know its used heavily behind the scenes (he even won an analytics award). Analytics is unquestionably a part of the Patriots success.

To be clear, analytics doesn't trump good coaching. It doesn't matter how good your analytics if you can't coach a cabbage. But it does allow you to see things from a different angle and allows you to avoid cognitive biases in drafting and play calling.

2) They don't see the need to invest much in RBs. They're not drafting them much, and they haven't had a primary ballcarrier in the last few years, other than Blount in 2016. This is of course part of the Patriot design of using specific pieces at RB. Contrast that with the Seahawks who have invested quite a bit more in RB. Between the two, the Bucs fall in between.
