Sign him and run a base 4-2-5!

Exactly what I was thinking. This passing league may make that the norm

Yeah the saints ran a lot of "big Nickel" last year. 3 safeties. Turned from one of the worst defenses into one of the best. I'd be down with that 100%

Yup. It's all about matchups. We get to put Barron on a TE or on a slot receiver as a big nickel if Byrd plays center field - Goldson can play an underneath rover and a Chancellor-type role and hit (which he loves to do given all of those fines he's racked up). Our run game gets a boost and we get to put a better size-match on the TE instead of wasting Revis inside unnecessarily. Rotate everyone as we seem fit. We'd still be short a CB if Banks doesn't improve, but this would help us gameplan significantly. Bring in a DE and we're solid top to bottom on D. Reminds me of what Penn State ran under Joe Pa. Rob Ryan played something similar to a Monster scheme quite a lot - also old school schemes (and damn the Ryan's are defensive geniuses).I'd be all for it if the money lines up.

I think Byrd is the best ball hawk safety in the league right now'. Upgrade for sureIn saying that, Goldson is a very good player. Can't wait to see him in lovies defense, just needs to eliminate personal foul penalties

Exactly what I was thinking. This passing league may make that the norm

Problem is that you are still rolling 2 CB's out there and as much as I like Byrd I don't want him manned up on a slot WR. That 3 S set says we are in a zone only.

Not necessarily.  Roll Barron down to LB next to David.  3 CB's with Byrd playing center field and Goldson as a roving hammer/yellow flag.

So really a heavy nickle, still want to get Goldosn out of that alignment but that is my bias that I want him out of ANY alignment.
