This game against the Panthers was a statement game for Bowles.  But it seems like it was also a statement game for Coen too. Tom Moore has to be given credit as well because he is still actively with the team and engaged with helping thesS offense.

No matter what happens the Bucs need to win their last game because they have to show improvement from a year ago.

The playoff picture may not materialize till next week truthfully.

Seriously the Saints lost 25-10 at home to the lowly Raiders.  They officially can't beat anybody.   We need the Commandos to beat the Falcons, because otherwise do you really think the Cowbosy are going to beat the Commandos or the Panthers are going to beat the Falcons in Week 18?  Anything can happen, but both the Cowboys and Panthers got shellacked this week.

Each week is different because Carolina has been helterskelter week to week as one week contenders and next week really down and out.

The Cowboys are capable of upsets as well but they are also capable of stinkers. Their HC is definitely gone after the season concludes.

Tonight's game will be integral for sure when it comes to the playoff picture in the NFC. The Commanders are pretty all over the place too but you never know.  They might pull it off.

The Commanders can clinch a playoff spot with a win?

Welp, agree it's not looking good at the half. But let's face the reality that the winner of the NFCS will host either the Vikings or the Lions in the Wild Card round. I'm not sure the Bucs would fare well vs either of those teams at this point in time.

We may be the 3 seed. If that happens we likely get Green Bay or Washington which I think we take

we also have an outside chance at 7 seed in which we will face eagles. We’ve been matching up well with them lately

at 4, yes Darnold likely carves us up but at home, I don’t think it’s as far fetched. Agree this would be our toughest round 1 match up

i think i have it right

1st seed - Winner of Sunday night - Detroit or Minnesota

2nd seed - Eagles locked in

3rd seed - Bucs win, Rams (who are resting starters) lose to Seattle

4th seed - Bucs win, Rams win; or Bucs lose, Falcons lose

5th seed - loser of Sunday night - Detroit or Minnesota

6th seed - Washington wins against Dallas; or Greenbay if Packers win against Bears and Washington loses

7th seed - Packers or Washington depending on 6th seed scenario.

so under this, i am estatic that the Rams are resting starters....we could be looking at most likely Washington in the first round; and i'd even take Green Bay, then in the second round we can play the Eagles who we match up well with or be posting a game if the Eagles lose.

of course, let's beat the damn Saints but just saying, root for Seattle after that!

Seattle will be playing their starts as far as what their HC Mac has said.  So the Bucs have to win against the Saints and the rest should line up in their favor.

I haven’t been this excited for a clinching scenario since 2008 season when Bucs just had to beat the lowly raiders to get in. That didn’t end too well and Gruden last game as head coach.

do we get dejavu here?

in 2008 we needed to win one of last four .. lost em all in a terrible meltdown

in 2024 we needed to win all of last four, lost one and we are still well in the play

no dejavu, can‘t compare it

no of course, i mean, simply the last game expectations.

that 2008 defensive meltdown was bizarre.  The defense was dominate, holding teams to around 20 points a game, then 3 out of the last 4 weeks gave up 38, 41, and 31 points after Kiffin's announcement to go coach with his son.

as far as last game, if i remember correctly, Oakland was ass and Bucs were already looking forward to playoffs.  i recall Ronde Barber reminiscing about having a watch party after the game.

so this game scares me a bit because everyone already has us in the playoffs.  The Saints give us trouble.  Just saying, i would feel a lot better if Carr doesn't play.

and the team has had trouble with these kind of "should win" games.

they lose this and our boy (haha) Todd Bowles is gone!  Quite Frankly, that would be unacceptable and time for a change.  Cant be favored by 2 touchdowns in a must win game at home and lose the game.  The Bucs management team would then have "cause" to fire him.

Totally agree. I thin k we win, but notihng is easy in the NFL and especially with a longstanding rival

If you completely discount injuries (eg just part of the job) they already have cause because their argum ent would be that the team regressed (by losing twice to the Falcons)  or they don't see a second season with a dip and then frantic recovery as "progress."
