Anyone know anything about Matt Cavanaugh, QB coach for the Bears? Here's the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Cavanaugh Definitely has playcalling experience at the NFL level (Bears, Ravens, Jets) and has made Cutler and McCown look like world beaters. A lot of that can be attributed to Marc Trestman's offensive system but still, I think he might be a good candidate because the players that we currently have are very comparable to those on Chicago's offense. I honestly think that Glennon could flourish in a QB-friendly scheme like the one currently being run up in the Windy City. Thoughts?Any other names? I am thinking that there will be few successful coordinators out there at the pro-level that would accept a lateral transfer. So I'm thinking QB coaches in the NFL and former HCs/OCs at the college level.
Who was Chip Kelly's OC (or maybe just in title) at Oregon?Jay Gruden...Don't know anything about Cavanaugh.Expect McNulty to get the position... if Schiano sticks. Not sure I like that...Would like someone with some attitude - someone would takes more risk
I don't think Jay Gruden is going to leave an OC position with Dalton and Green, to go to work for control freak Schiano. If Jay Gruden was offered the HC position... Yes, good God, yes... Then we would see an actual offense tailored to the personnel we have.

The OC at Oregon (Helfrich) is the guy who took over when Chip left. Doubt he moves to the NFL to be an OC.Gruden is not going to make a lateral move, nor would be even allowed to talk to him for such.
all i know is that Baltimore fans hated him when he was their coordinator

Baltimore fans hate all their offensive coordinators. But yea, Ill pass too.
It will be McNulty. Maybe Gilbride when he is fired. It will be very Giants like going forward.
Does it matter who any of us want? If we got what we wanted the Glazers would clean house. Fact is, if Schiano gets canned the new guy will choose his guy. If he stays either Sully will too or Schiano will pick who he wants.
McNulty is a shoe in....after all, it's the guy he wanted from the very start.
Only way to change the offense is to get rid of Schiano. Otherwise more of the same next season. Frustrating to see him not willing to try something a little different when it's not working.
No point in discussing "candidates". As long as Schiano is here, McNulty is gonna be the guy. Nobody else will come for what would surely be the lamest of lame duck regimes.

Never said "if Schiano stays". I didn't put any limiting factors on this discussion. Just looking at guys who might be a good fit as OC for this team.
The Whiz has done good work in San Diego. And they expect to lose him this offseason. But he will be aiming for a HC gig, most likely.
Does anyone honestly believe it matters? Does anyone really think Sully isn't running Schiano's offense and whoever replaces him will continue to run Schiano's offense?
