Weight: 252. Projected 40 Time: 4.72. 1/16/16: Spence overwhelmed weaker competition in 2015 with 63 tackles with 22.5 for a loss and 11.5 sacks. It weren't for off-the-field issues, Spence could be a first-round pick. Playing well at the Senior Bowl is important for Spence, but interviewing well with teams could be even more critical. 8/22/15: Spence has speed off the edge with some natural strength. He played well for Ohio State in 2013, collecting 52 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, eight sacks, one forced fumble and two passes broken up. However to end that season, Spence was suspended for three games. He was then suspended in 2014 for repeated failed drug tests. Spence transferred to Eastern Kentucky and was arrested in May of 2015 for public intoxication.Spence is a first round talent with character concerns, as long as the kid stays clean he is potentially the best pass rushing 4-3 DE in this draft.. We could take a shot in round two with a guy like Carl Nassib or Kevin Dodd, but I'd much rather bank on this guy provided our 2nd annual investigating-our-first-rounder process goes smooth.2 - Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio StateHeight: 6-7. Weight: 315. Projected 40 Time: 5.25. 1/9/16: Decker played well for the Buckeyes in 2015, but is better as a run blocker than in pass protection. He has had some problems with speed rushers and that was evident in the game against Minnesota. Like Michigan State's Jack Conklin, sources feel that Decker would be a better right tackle in the NFL. 8/15/15: Decker enters his senior year with two seasons of starting experience. His run blocking is ahead of his pass blocking. To finish 2014, he played well, protecting Cardale Jones and opening holes for Ezekiel Elliott. Decker has to work on his feet as some times he can be caught lunging. Decker also has a tendency to stand up too high at times and needs to work on his knee bend and pad level. Depending on if the senior can show improvement in 2015, for the NFL, he could be better off playing right tackle.Much like Jake Fisher last year, I expect Decker to be available early in round 2 when we take the podium. Decker isn't a LT prospect which is what will push him down the board, but his tenacity and mean streak will go great next to Ali Marpet for years to come. Dotson will go into 2016 as RT but Decker is the futute of the position.3A - Vonn Bell, S, Ohio State1/16/16 Bell played well this year with 6 interceptions, 92 tackles and six passes broken up. Generally, he was solid - minus a few coverage lapses on occasion. 8/17/15: Bell had a huge 2014 season with the Buckeyes as he recorded six interceptions with 92 tackles and six passes broken up. The sophomore finished the year in impressive fashion to help the Buckeyes win the National Championship with four interceptions across the final six games. Bell showed speed, ball skills and instincts in his first season as a starterBell is one of my favorite safeties in a deep class at the position. Great all around player with a penchant for clutch splash plays and a tough, physical mean streak. Well balanced in the passing game and run game, he makes a great compliment to our new free agent signing Tashaun Gipson.3B - Deiondre Hall, CB, Northern IowaHeight: 6'2 Weight: 190Projected 40 Time: 4.531/16/16: Hall has excellent size to be an NFL cornerback and will be playing at the Senior Bowl. He really stood out for Northern Iowa as he had six interceptions as a senior. Nothern Iowa didn't play a top program in 2015, so performing well against more talented receivers is critical for Hall. Earning a Senior Bowl invite speaks well for him.A real sleeper at CB, Hall has ideal size as a press man corner, something I think Mike Smith would love to have in addition to Johnthan Banks. Creates turnovers and locks his man up routinely. Creating a lot of buzz at the senior bowl.4 - Ryan Kelly, C, Alabama Height: 6-5. Weight: 297. Projected 40 Time: 5.08. 1/9/16: Alabama has had a ton of success with Kelly opening holes for Derrick Henry in 2015. Kelly is a good college player, but could stand to fill out his frame for the NFL. 8/15/15: Kelly played well as a run-blocker in 2014. His pass blocking could use some improvement for the next level though. Kelly had some big shoes to fill in 2013 as the replacement for Barrett Jones, one of the most highly decorated offensive linemen in Alabama history. Kelly performed well in nine games, but the first-year starter missed four games with a knee injury. Kelly saw some action as a freshman backup in 2012 and did enough to be named to the SEC All-Freshman team. He is said to have a lot of athletic upside, but could use more bulk for the NFL.Ryan Kelly is a solid C prospect to grow with the rest of our young O Lineman. Hawley will start in 2016, while Kelly bulks up and serves as depth in year one. Very impressive in how he opened up holes for Derrick Henry against tough defenses in the SEC.6A - Ross Martin, K, Duke1/16/16: In 2015, Martin was 26-for-30. He hit on field goals from 51 yards twice and one from 53 yards out. Martin will kick at the Senior Bowl. 8/29/15: Martin showed impressive accuracy in 2014, hitting 19 of 21 field goal attempts. He missed his only attempt over 50 yards and was 5 for 6 in the 40-yard range. In 2013, Martin was 13-of-19, which wasn't as strong as his 2012 season when he went 20-of-23. He does have some deep accuracy with connecting on 4 of 5 attempts from over 50 yards in his career, but he struggles in the 40-yard range as he is 6 of 10 in two seasons.A solid pickup at the K position. Kid has an iron leg which was on display in the senior bowl practices when he nailed 60 yarders with ease. More consistent than Barth and stronger leg.6B - Devon Johnson, FB/RB, MarshallHeight: 6-1. Weight: 243. Projected 40 Time: 4.77. 1/9/16: In 2015, Johnson averaged 6.3 yards per carry for 593 yards with five touchdowns. He also had six receptions for 63 yards. Johnson was producing well before a back injury cost him most of Week 4, and he missed Week 5 as well. After coming back briefly, Johnson missed the final five games of the regular season. 8/8/15: 'Rockhead' Johnson plays running back for Marshall, but he could fit better as a fullback for the NFL. Johnson averaged 8.6 yards per carry for 1,767 yards and 17 touchdowns last season. He also had six receptions for 121 yards. With his physical style and nickname, Johnson is sure to be a fan favorite. As a sophomore, he was a backup tight end. Our very own Mike Tolbert.
