First a question for the PR writers - Have you witnessed the Bucs running a lot of Shotgun Formation in practice? If so, what are your thoughts, to that point? I'm shocked there hasn't been a thread covering this yet, so here goes...Looking at the limited videos posted on the main Buccaneers and NFL sites, it appears most of the timing passes coming out of McCown's hands(so beautifully) are delivered to him via a shotgun snap. I know it's all speculation(as of now), but if we do implement more of that look, I'll be absolutely stoked. Given the quick hit, speed in space, play to our strengths chatter we've heard regarding our offense, I feel like the shotgun would truly open up the full potential of our offense. Hell even Josh "snorts" Freeman looked half way decent in a high-tempo shotgun offense. If you watch Peyton Manning(I'm not comparing our QBs in any way) in the shotgun, he gets a better look at the overall defensive set-up, as opposed to face down in a sea of angry defenders(under center). From the shotgun Josh could read the D from a birds nest...if he sees the over the top throw open(to V-Jax or Mike Evans), off coverage(for bubble screens and slants), or a weak box (for a quick hit run) he can better diagnose and react. I also feel that with Josh's athleticism he'd be in a better position to move the chains with his legs from a shotgun formation. In addition, I must say that I can't help myself and have zero interest in tempering my enthusiasm...I feel like the Bucs are going to shock the NFL this season. ESPN lists our top 15 players(with 1,2,3 still yet to post) on the Bucs blog - http://espn.go.com/blog/tampa-bay-buccaneers 1 - 2 - 3. Would have to be a combination of G-Mac, David, & Dotson (likely in that order)4. V-Jax - 5. Martin - 6. Verner - 7. Johnson - 8. Barron - 9. Goldson - 10. Collins - 11. Foster - 12. McCown - 13. Evans - 14. Banks - 15. Seferian-JenkensThe only argument I could make is the fact that Tim Wright is the more valuable player at TE(until otherwise proven by ASJ). For you math whiz types, that's 6 of our 15 best players having not been on our roster last year. Let's call it a net improvement of 5, since Revis surely would have made that list. So, we are 33% better at the top of our roster(Elite players), we have insane depth(we will cut some really good players), we have a proven coach in Lovie, we finally hired a proven "offenseive mind" in Tedford(albeit not on the NFL level), and our fan base is amped to early Gruden levels. In closing...I can't freaking wait for the season...TAMPA....
