Round 1 Pick 14) Bucs select Ka'Lavon Chaisson. I have a multitude of reasons why he could be the Bucs pick. Good write-up by @Nobody who projects him as a late first rounder which is comparable to what you see on the internet but....
a) Licht doesn't care where a guys is projected. He'll take a guy because that's who he wants and he doesn't want to miss out on him. See Devin White.
b) Chaisson has the LSU pedigree. Apparently Licht likes LSU and winning a championship doesn't hurt. See Devin White.
c) He has the leadership quality, which as we know is important for a Bucs 1st round pick. See Devin White.
d) Explosive, tough, tackler, Football IQ. Checking a lot of boxes. I won't go into details you can see by reading Nobody's write-up. But see Devin White.
OK I'm not saying he's Devin White, just that if Licht loved Devin White, he's going to like Chaisson for a lot of the same reasons.
As much as the Bucs need O-line, I don't see them breaking tradition by using a 1st round pick for one since they will probably miss out on that top tier. But never fear because its deep at O-line. They won't forget about the O-line on Day 2.
TRADE: Bucs will trade OJ Howard for a back half of Rd 2 or Early 3rd, but I'm thinking they will use that extra pick for a running back. To trade a player who is producing, albeit not what we would like, for a project-type who needs to learn the ropes is a loss for 2020. But if you can trade for a running back who can give your offense a shot of toughness right away then that's a gain for 2020.
