Hardy - young ascending player. Worth the cost over declining older players. We have the cap space, and the ability to create more with cutting players like Joseph and Koenen. Even altering Revis' contract can increase cap space, without costing him any money.Lovie needs a DE, may as well weaken a division rival in the process.

I was thinking that same thing, but do you hand the kid the keys, even with lovie at the helm?Idk man, bringing allen in and rotating him with mj seems a more "timely" option. He gets to work with allen, gets a season or two under his belt, then replaces him.Either way, we need a better group of backups, and even IF we do sign allen, we need an option in case he becomes injured.

None of the above.Michael Johnson. He looks like one of those value signings Litch talks about.

I'll bet my last dollar that Michael Johnson signs with the Vikings. His former DC Mike Zimmer is the HC there.

What scares me about Hardy is the money. He's demanding a HUGE contract. Is he all about getting that big contract and then letting his play fall off on the field because he has nothing left to prove?

Put Hardy on the line with McCoy and he can prove that he is a world champion.

Seriously doubt that the Bucs pursue Hardy, doesn't sound like the type of guy Licht looks for. I'm thinking that our top dollar for a edge rush DE is going to be about 6-8m per season and that's unlikely to get either Hardy or Bennett. We have a number of holes to fill in the off season and with the draft. We need help along the offensive line, another strong defensive tackle with rush ability (Melton from Chicago is possibility), the aforementioned DE position, linebacker depth, another TE, another WR or two and a vet QB.Too many holes to fill and even with a good cap number, the Bucs are going to struggle to get all of them covered and get some decent depth this season. That was Dom's failing, he shopped at the top of the market and ignored the players that could give good production and depth. I don't see Licht making that mistake.

I think Johnson follows Zimmer to Minny paving the way for Jared Allen to sign elsewhere...just my 2 pennies

If the Vikes sign Johnson that leaves Everson Griffen out there.  That would be a good value signing by the Bucs.

I could totally see that happening and wouldn't mind it either...

Griffen is exactly the type of guy I see Licht pursuing. Won't break the bank, has upside and is better than anyone we have on the team now other than perhaps Clayborn.

Hardy idealy but will cost too much $. I like Allen as a 2 year stop gap. If he can give us two 10+ sack years I'm happy.

Lovie said he wants double digit sack guys.  If we take coach Lovie at face value then Griffen would not qualify as a FA target...if we base his comments on the "p" word then roll the dice and hope for the best.

People assume Allen would sign here. From what he has stated recently, the Bucs would be his LAST choice in free agency.  He wants to sign with a contender, and wants to go to a team with a franchise QB already in place.  The Bucs fail on both of those requirements IMO.

Just because he said that he wants one, doesn't mean that he has to go out and sign one. Licht has already said that he doesn't like to buy from the top shelf and looks to get 'value' free agents. To me that means that he's looking for this year's Micheal Bennett or Chris Avril.

I think he'll listen to our offer and consider it, but in the end, if it's between us and a solid contender I would expect him to go to the contender. Allen has a very good relationship with Frazier and admires Smith. That will buy us a least a ticket to talk. However, it sounds like Allen will be pursued by a lot of teams, I think he'll end up being too rich for Licht to land.
