NFL Referee, Garth DeFelice, Was Very “Hands On” During Pats Vs. Colts NFL referee, Garth DeFelice, who wears number U (umpire) 53, didn’t shy away from contact with both Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots players in tonight’s AFC playoff game.DeFelice, who bears a striking resemblance to Principal Gerald Strickland from Back to the Future, also seems to rule with the same iron fist. Just Google his name and you’ll see a multitude of pictures/videos/articles of him “getting physical” with players. DeFelice has been an NFL official since 1998 and is no stranger to controversy. According to DeFelice’s wiki page:In 2010, DeFelice was involved in a controversy in a game between San Francisco and the San Diego Chargers. After a play, 49ers defensive lineman Justin Smith and Chargers tight end Kris Wilson were fighting. When DeFelice went in an attempt to break it up, Smith pushed DeFelice out of the way and was ejected per NFL rules regarding contact with an official. After seeing the way DeFelice managed the game tonight, I can’t say I’m surprised.Props to Legarrette Blount for restraining himself. He’s come a long way from his days at Oregon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vL-iWdGlR4 Sidenote – This could have been epic; loose cannon ref meets “formerly” loose cannon running back. Add in a steel cage ring and that’s the stuff Vince McMahon’s dreams are made of. . http://theawesomeboston.com/nfl-referee-garth-defelice-was-very-hands-on-during-pats-vs-colts/
I picture the "fight" going something like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H3lWEF0ScA
Yes, props to LGB for showing the restraint that normal adults are expected to.
Was I the only one who expected (and made verbal comments) to see him drop that ref with a right cross?
It actually happened. But lgb was so fast, and defelice so tough, the laws of physics got tossed out the window. Also, if you slow it down to the millisecond, I'm pretty sure defelice made a racial remark.

Let's give him a ribbon.
