LMAO at idiots that want to get rid of Island. Dummies.
Never said they ''should'' get rid of Revis. But had they employed more Cover 2 and had the right offer come along, it certainly would have been worth considering. But given Lovie's approach, Revis' improving health and likely a better cast around him, we're better off keeping him, without question. As for the salary, not sure why some get so caught up on that. We have plenty of money to address our needs and dead wood to cut if need be. That should never be part of the equation.
I wasn't a fan of the trade or contract but now Revis is here if Lovie can't alter his defensive scheme to include the best CB in the fame (when healthy) he's not the coach many think he is.I'm not saying that as a dig at Lovie, the same goes for any coach that can't adjust for a great player.
I think truth be known, Revis was never 100% here. We have our QB situation on the cheap for another year, presumably, so might as well keep Revis and actually use him like he's getting paid for. I think in this situation, Schiano took the bad press for not using Revis in more man because he didn't want it to leak that his guy wasn't 100%. Another offseason and another 6 months before team stuff starts again should allow Revis to make a full return to whatever caliber player he may be.
You sir are correct. I think Schiano fell on allot of swords the past two years. I'm glad he is gone, but he wasn't the idiot most think.
Sapp, Brooks, Barber, Lynch. McCoy, David, Revis, and...? Missing that fourth element. Is Barron "The Fourth Element"?
You forgot Simeon Rice.
Funny anyone can even think about cutting/trading Revis, specially when we STILL have a pick owed to the Jets this coming draft.

It really irritates the hell out of me that Rice does not get the respect he deserves (from our fans especially)! It really baffles me that the greatness of Rice is not appreciated on that GREAT defense!
Lovie is drooling at thought of having the best 4-3 DT, OLB, and CB in the league.
And we're going to pay for all of them how? Everyone is assuming McCoy's new contract is going to be lower but precedent has been set when Stafford's new deal was a significant increase and his franchise number is 15.8 and that's where negotiations will start. David's new contract is going to be huge and if we're going to be good at some point the QB is going to be making more than 700k. And oh yea.... We have to fix a 4-12 team.

My sig pic says otherwise.

Pretty sure the fact that Stafford plays the most important position on the field has nothing to do with it. GMC will get a big deal but it will be market value aka comparable to top-3 DTs.
Don't mind him, JC is just upset that McCoy is by far a better player than Freeman and will (deservedly) get paid more than Freeman. Josh and JCs relationship has been a little rough lately, especially when money gets brought up.

So what should we do? Trade elite talent? because your worrying about a problem we currently don't have.
JC's opinion is a running commentary on excuse making 101. PEWTER REPORT: YOUR SOURCE for JC's Ridiculous Braying!
@RapSheet 33mThere were questions about how Lovie Smith would use Darrelle Revis. I’m told he has big plans for Revis. Absolutely has a future in TB@RapSheet 35mPlayed a lot of man-to-man at the end. RT @bucsORgtfo: @RapSheet Thank you. People that say Lovie is strictly cover 2 don't know ????
That isn't Lovie smith's twitter feed is it? LoL.For the record I am the idiot that would trade Revis in a heartbeat. Nothing against him at all. Great player, would love to have him but I could make much better use of the cap space. If the argument is that we need Revis in order to have a great defense just look at the Jets. Number One defense in the NFL without Revis this year. Sorry but my plan would include a franchise QB, an elite speed rushing DE and re-signing Gerald McCoy.

Revis or McCoy, pick one. Both won't work. Can't have two defensive players taking up over 25% of the salary cap. And trading elite talent has been done before and worked.

A DE is likely a priority no matter what. And resigning McCoy wont be that much of a problem.Franchise QB....I keep hearing people say this but no one seems to know where you'd get that. Free agency is going to bare in that area. Unless you want Michael Vick or Chad Henne. Draft is going to be difficult considering how many in front of us want a QB too. Our problem is not paying a franchise QB, we can't even get him.

The acquisition of the franchise QB is the hard part. But if you aren't trying then you will surely never find one.
