https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/quarterback// I'd rather have Cooper Rush than retreads like Dalton or Bridgewater.....
Cooper Rush is not bad working the short game. But if you want to push the ball downfield you go with Case Kennum. Heineke and White are better but they may attract a lot of money which puts the Bucs out of contention for either one.

if these are our best options, just go with trask and gabbert and hope for top pick to get potential next burrow, Lawrence, Hebert, Allen, mahomes
give me rodgers, carr or jimmy G or give me absolute tank, cap freedom in 2024
Trask will compete with one those UFA QBs and let the best man win the job.

Based on what?
Please don't use the outlier year he had in MIN.
I like what I have seen from Kennum when he was a Bronco. To me he is a good player to bring in to push Trask.

While I would hope trask can grab the bull by the horns here, the fact of the matter is the only reason he was 3rd string is that his draft status would keep him off practice squad over griffin
he was likely closer to 4th string then he was 2nd
not his fault, just had a limited ceiling
let’s see what happens with Carr and jimmy G. If we can’t land one of those, just tank for a franchise QB in 2024. what’s better? Go 6-11 with jacoby brissett and miss out on top pick, go 3-14 with trask and get top pick, or go 10-7 and make playoffs with Carr/jimmy G
Id argue the later 2 are debatable where bridge shit QB is clearly not a good option.
New Orleans and Las Vegas have reportedly already agreed on compensation for Carr.
Carr to visit New Orleans this week.

New Orleans had draft picks to burn via the Payton trade. We don't.
Don't want Carr anyway, not for his price.
I would be interested in Baker Mayfield. He has had shootouts with mahomes, lamr jackson, hebert..games were 40 pts scored. He has ability and we have good wrs

According to PFT Carr to NO is not a done deal. In fact it's unlikely that Carr gets traded at all. He'll probably be cut before the 2/14 deadline.

I would be only okay with Baker if the Bucs are committed to a balanced offense or ground game to work with play action. Baker requires an offense with play action and motion to help him out read coverages pre snap. But that requires upgrading the interior OL and also drafting another RB and TE.
Carr to the Stains is gaining steam as their new qb
I'd take Baker over Trask...that's for damn sure.
But I'm also good with giving Trask a shot, drafting Hooker, signing a cheap vet... then seeing if our weapons can mask average qb play
here's how i rank it
if Bucs want to try and keep Superbowl window or say playoff contender window open
1. Aaron Rodgers - he would have to restructure his deal and could likely do wonders with Godwin and Evans. Ultimately, do not think Green Bay would trade him within the NFC so to me it's Jets, Raiders, Packers, or retirement for him.
2. Derek Carr - he would have to restructure his deal or if he were to sign as a free agent but looking more and more like he is going to the Saints.
3. Jimmy G - the dude gets hurt all the time. that's a problem. however, he has done pretty good with San Fran and the best of the crap after Rodgers and Carr
4. Baker Mayfield - he's been on 3 teams in 15 months. However, still young enough that maybe turn his career around
5. Lamar Jackson - dude's always hurt, a run first QB, and while the team would be 8-3 for the first 2/3s of the season, cant really rely on him to stay healthy. Plus, he's going to want a mega -45-50 million per year deal. Also went do the wheels fall off ala Cam Newton.
if the Bucs aren't trying to compete and maybe test their lock with new coaching staff and top pick
6. Blaine Gabbert/Kyle Trask combo
why waste time with any other journeyman QB to win 5-7 games.
