What is the lay of the land for the QB picks? Is this trade down idea for the Bucs sizzling or fizzling?
Pick 1,2 and 3 Arizona Rumor to trade Rosen to draft Kyler Murray is FIZZLING. The three players Bosa, Quinnen and Allen will be the first three picks in some order. Beware the BS rumors increase as the draft gets nearer. Too many question marks for Murray to go top 3. Any talk of a QB going in top 3 should be ignored.
Pick 4 Oakland Rumor to dump Carr and pick Murray FIZZLING. Gruden is not dumb. He will stand pat and draft D-line. That's why he traded Mack. Carr may be a bridge QB at this stage. The Raiders may do some maneuvering later in the round and pick up Jones.
Pick 5 Bucs trading down FIZZLING. Kyler Murray along with Haskins are available. But nobody is going to trade up to 5 to get them. The original prognosis that this is a lackluster group of QBs is still correct, and teams won't give up their day 2 picks draft to move up to this spot.
6 NY Giants trading up FIZZLING. They can stand pat and get Haskins, or if that falls through they will take another QB. No trade up.
7 Jacksonville taking a QB or trading up FIZZLING. They will sign Foles or Bridgewater and take Jonah or whoever top LT is. Even the Jags know you need O-line or your screwed.
8 and 9 Lions and Bills trade down SIZZLING. This is where Dolphins could move up to get Murray. They can't afford to sell out their draft to move up any higher.
10 Broncos trading up? FIZZLING. There is no need for them to trade up. Sit here at 10 and take Drew Lock.
11 Bengals taking a QB FIZZLING. Dalton has a pretty friendly contract, and they don't think the QB crop is that great. They will wait until next year to draft a top QB.
13 Dolphins trading up SIZZLING. I think they make a play for Murray but they won't sell the store. They will go no higher than 8.
15 Redskins trading up FIZZLING. They may take Daniel Jones or sign Bridgewater. They won't sell the farm to move up for say Drew Lock. Is Lock any better than Bridgewater?
So what is the takeaway for Bucs fans? I predict no trades whatsoever in the first seven picks. Its time for Bucs fans to forget about the trade down and start figuring out who the Bucs are going to take at 5. Hey if you don't like it, I'm sorry. I don't like it either. Neither does Licht. I'd love to see the Bucs stock up on picks. But it is what it is. The trade down ain't gonna happen. That's my story and I'll stick with it.
