Last year's musical chairs ended up with a QB or two being left begging for scraps. Jameis Winston being Exhibit A. This year I think it's the teams who will be overpaying for mediocre QBs. And I think Winston gets a deal this year for that reason.
The lineup of available veterans is a "Who's Who" of mediocre QBs.
Good QBs: Dak Prescott (I don't think Dallas will pay the price). Injury or not, Prescott is going to cash in.
Mediocre QBs. Derek Carr, Jimmy Garappolo, Jameis Winston, Carson Wentz, Sam Darnold, Cam Newton, Mitch Trubisky, Andy Dalton, Nick Mullens. Do any of those get you excited?
Teams who will draft starters: Jax (Draft Trevor Lawrence), Jets (Draft Justin Fields), Panthers (Draft Trey Lance to go with Bridgewater), Cowboys (draft Zach Wilson). Other rookies won't be ready for prime time.
Teams who need QBs: Indy (maybe they try to get another year out of Rivers?), Las Vegas, New Orleans, Washington, San Francisco, Chicago, New England (Stidham?). Thats a lot of teams who will try to sort through a handful of below average QBs.
The lucky team who will pay through the nose for Dak Prescott is .... Washington. And the winner of the Jameis Winston Sweepstakes is... Las Vegas!
