And Nevermind about Antonio brown they certainly touch on it. I was at that game. Certainly something I’ll never forget.
Just relived the Barber pick at the Vet!!! Best play ever
Funny to hear Sapp and Lynch ad Brooks blame Monte for a blitz call leading to the Rams TD over Brian Kelly in 1999
I’m on episode 9 not one mention of Antonio brown lmao. too funny. Love or hate the man he was pivotal to our Super Bowl run.
got the Colin kaepernick treatment!
and the demise of our repeat run. Him quitting after Godwin went down was evil.
he was certainly a welcomed weapon in the 2020 season but after our bye week, we went 4-0 becuase we basically played Atlanta (x2) and Detroit to get right. They each had 4 and 5 wins respectively. We then barely beat the Vikings who were a 7 win team but their kicker missed like 5 kicks that day.
Wasn't much of a factor in the playoff run to be honest
WAS - had 2 catches for 49 yards, 1 of which was a TD. by far his strongest contribution
NO - 1 catch for 10 yards
GB - DNP
KC - 5 catches for 22 yards, 1 TD. That 1 yard TD could have been anyone
dont get me wrong, having to game plan for AB helped tremendously but how he acted the following season did not make him a well liked Buccaneer, that's for sure.
WRs acting like divas isn't new to cost coaches wins and impact the team's ability to compete (eg Keyshawn, McCardell). So Brown's antics while surprising it should have been a wake up call to keep stacking WR talent.
That is why Licht's aggressiveness with the WR position may have saved the Bucs 2025 season. Because throwing more resources at the defense provides less of a return of these guys can't seen the field in 2025. EE and Johnson have seen the field and have helped flip some games in the favor of the Bucs this season. Now, we need some these drafted defenders to do their part in the final three games.

that did play a huge factor. No doubt, we were beat up that year. Wirfs was a big loss.
another thing that didn’t help was the drafting of Kyle trask. now I know there’s no guarantee insert (any non qb we drafted instead) would’ve helped, but can damn near guarantee he would’ve had a bigger impact than a back up quarterback.
our receiving core and secondary specifically were decimated that year.

other than the 2016 Draft where we had Vernon Hargreaves, Noah Spence, and Roberto Aguayo in the top 2 rounds, i'd say the 2021 draft class isn't far behind
but it was one where Licht was high off his own supply. Won the Superbowl and didn't know what to do; drafted a developmental edge rusher, drafted a back-up QB.(like no i dont mean back-up to Tom Brady but someone who's ceiling was back-up QB in the NFL), and a kick returner with 3 of the first 4 picks. Most knew right on draft day was a disaster this draft class would be and it lived up to those expectations.
Going all in for a repeat run, made no sense to take a developmental back-up QB, even with a QB old enough to collect social security.

This was one of several "too smart for out own good" pick. The ONLY way that pick makes sense, using their own explanation, is if Trask develops into the starter (no Mayfield) during the same window (2023 to 202052) and the team has the same unexpected success. Then the FO might be hailed as geniuses with incredible foresight lol.
Its the same thing with the kicker pick and a couple others I am sure.
In 2021 its even amplified by the ALL-IN short sightedness
