IMO, the Glazers jumped the gun on this one. The last two drafts are definitely in the top five in franchise history. The defense is just a player or two away from being back in the top ten. They were among the best in the league at takeaways this year, and led the league in run defense after being the worst in 2011. Any coach that can get the ninth ranked offense with a reluctant Josh Freeman at QB, deserves more than he got here. It's a real shame Schiano won't get the chance to correct the offense with a healthy roster and a second year QB. So now the Glazers will bring in some reject from another program who will have no clue who is worth keeping. I'm not mad and I'm not bailing on the team, but I am sad. The two people most responsible for the really great talent on this roster are gone. The plan they had is out the window, and the new GM and HC will take a year or two to figure out what they have here. The Bucs will lose some of that talent in the process. For some, the solution is simple. All we need to do is sign a HC who is superior to the other three HCs in the division, and then draft a QB who is better than Drew Brees, Fig Newton, and Matt Ryan. Good luck with that, and the time it's going to take for the new guys to learn about the division. Good luck with that.I hope the new guys turn things around right away. I just don't see it as realistic. When you blow things up, it takes awhile to get everyone on the same page.I detest Josh Freeman. He crapped in the punchbowl on purpose IMO.
Drafts and talent isn't the problem. In game decisions, game planning and in game adjustments along with getting the most out of that talent is what doomed Schiano.
Don't see how it was rash. It was 8 games too late IMO
Not sure how you watch this team week in and week out and then say this was a rash decision.
Rash: What Schiano gave Buc fans.

+1
Dude, new coaches have turned teams around in 1 year all the time. And how did you expect a Schiano led team to win the division when we are 4th in talent, 4th in coaching, and have the 4 the best QB. That plan wasn't working and never was going to.
Schiano was in WAY over his head from the beginning. Even Training Camp was a disaster and we were doomed form the beginning because he didn't play our starters in the pre-season.He had no idea what he was doing and it was more and more evident each and every week.
They're looking for a quick fix to their deep do do... Must have read a fan survey...
Look at his fake punt again. Schiano accomplished nothing here that we want to repeat in 2014.
Nicely said OP.

So, Schiano benefited from two of the top five drafts in franchise history and had his squad lead the league in takeaways and had them limp to a 4-12 record. These are not facts that I would actually consider to be to his credit. But even more than the record itself, it just didn't look like a well-coached team to me. I don't feel that sticking with him for another year would have benefited the team. Time to rip that bandage off.
This wasn't really about a win total, it was about bad management of the team during games and between games. For instance: during yesterdays game, why do you call a Swinging Gate play (that normally has 5 receivers) with only two receivers? The whole point of the damn play is to overload their special teams unit. Also during yesterday's game: completely wasting almost 40 seconds at the end of the 2nd quarter. And finally: the entire season we couldn't close a barn door and made little to no adjustments after halftime. Also, Schiano flat-out refused to alter his schemes to fit our players. The NFL doesn't work that way anymore.
I prefer a HC that doesn't have to go to Foxboro to observe how a real nfl team does things. You know, someone that already knows what the hell he is doing at this level.
Too much wrong about this franchise to be able to fix everything in less than two years. At least the new GM and HC will have something to build on, IF they can figure out what they should keep. Schiano had a hell of an impact on the defense. Now we'll never know if he could have done the same thing with the offense. The STs was better too.
