I agree with the premise of this thread. We've got young guys like McCoy who are going on their 3rd coach already, that's a sign of a poorly run franchise. Most of our fans act like spoiled brats, they cry and whine if everything doesn't go exactly how they want 100 percent of the time. It appears the Glazers continue to let that factor into their decision making, and where has that gotten us? Exactly. Continuity can go a long way, unfortunately the Glazers aren't aware of that.
This wasn't a rash decision at all. And if you watched the games this year I honestly can't see how in the high holy hell you couldn't see that Schiano was in over his head. This has been coming for a while.
Instant gratification is what this is about. Nobody wanted to give an inexperienced guy time to learn. He had flaws, obviously, but there were clear signs he was working on them and attempting to be a better coach. You get better with experience, but experience is the last thing some of our fans wanted him to gain because they wanted to be "right" about him. I have no doubt many of our fans were terrified at the thought of him coaching next season, not because they were afraid he'd fail, they were afraid he'd succeed. When you have a guy who seemingly has the respect of his players, has his guys playing hard even through a rough season, and shows he's trying to improve in some of his weaker areas...you should give that guy time. Had we been getting blown out each week like we were under Raheem, that would be another story. I just hope the next guy works out, we're most likely going to have a slew of new assistants, a new QB, and possibly a new offense and defensive system. That's multiple prime years of some of our better players down the drain if the change doesn't work out.
Funny - and here I thought that in most high end professions in the real world if you aren't showing results after two years you are typically fired. Or demoted. Oh wait....

While you're at it, jot this down too79-87 career record as a head coach including a 4-8 record, 7-9 and 4-12 record in his last 4 years of Coaching (including Rutgers). History of losing big games because of a stunning lack of second half adjustments dating to when his HC career began in 2001. A history which has seen him fail to win a division title, conference championship or any other type of significant recognition. Worst record this year than last year with a better roster. But yes he sure is getting better. Obviously.
Rutgers was a joke when he took over, he brought them to a respectable level and considering it's Rutgers, a team that will never win a national championship regardless of who's coaching them, that's noteworthy. Also, ignoring everything that went wrong this season and pretending it didn't impact our W/L record won't make it all go away. Freeman completely wrecked the first quarter of our season on his own, then went to Minny and set a franchise record for low completion percentage in his first and only game. This is why so many people wanted Schiano fired immediately. Freeman is gone, the MRSA thing is done, Glennon will get a full offseason to prepare as the starter, we'll have a new draft class (you can't knock Schiano's drafting), probably some key FA's, and a bunch of healthy players returning including our kicker which as we found out this season is a pretty important position. All of that most likely equals a drastic improvement in our play and our record, but we can't have that can we? Let's boot the guy to the curb now, pretend we had a normal routine season, and be "right" about Schiano. That's the simple minded, ego driven nonsense most of our fans live by.

A second look at Rutgers, contrasted with what Bill Snyder did at Kansas State and Gary Barnett at Northwestern, say he didn't do much at Rutgers. Snyder won 2 conference championships in the Big 12 and was in the hunt for National Championships twice. Gary Barnett won two Big Ten Championships after a 47 bowl hiatus at Northwestern. Schiano never won the Big East. Freeman did not wreck the first quarter of the season. Losing at NY, when we had the lead with 38 seconds left, wasn't his fault. Having a td pass called back, due to a penalty versus the Saints wasn't his fault. And missing a field goal and giving up a game winning drive inside the 1 minute mark wasn't on him either. So his play was good enough to win two of 3 games. And I think we beat Arizona if he is the starter in the 4th week. Coaching decisions determined our failure more than Freeman did. But he provided a nice cover to the casual observer. Kudos to the Glazers for seeing through the smokescreen.

Dude, let the Freeman stuff go. I was one of the biggest Freepologists and defended him longer than almost anyone. It's obvious the guy isn't what he used to be and is a bad QB now. We may have had a chance to win 2 of those first 3 games, but it wasn't because of Freeman. He looked awful in every game he played this season and definitely needed to go.

Talking about Freeman. Got some confirmation about the many things speculated on here about him and things that may have negatively impacted his on field performance. Let's say the confirmation wasn't about it being schiano's fault. Not the kind of confirmation that would allow a reporter to run with a story, but "mah sources" were pretty solid. ;D

We also saw the early camp reports of how Freeman was lighting it up. This coaching staff said, the first unit was okay and gave plenty of reps to back ups. So the season starts and the offense has no rhythm. We have a shot at winning two games with Freeman at QB, in spite of the S#!* storm that just got fired. So excuse me for calling BS, when it is in fact, just that! And we'll see what Freeman has in the future.

You would hope that the owners would not ignore the positives of the last 23 months like the very common masses on this board. Some other franchise will benefit from Dominik's 19 years of experience here, and Penn State will get it's next Joe Pa. The Bucs will have the excuse of a new administration, new staff, and new scheme. There is some hope for the future. Drew Brees can't play forever.
