New "Red board Whipping Boy" Award
I can’t remember a time in recent history where a particular Buccaneer’s player was picked on more than Jamel Dean was last night. He did not look great in training camp or preseason and continues to look like he has a confidence issue. I hope he bounces back, especially with SMB out for sometime.
The “Out of left field contributor” award -Jaydon Mickens looked on another level last night. Dude is making a case to keep Darden inactive. Pinion and Succop also balled out.
The "Every RBer Licked Their Lips in Envy Wishing He Was On Our Team" Award- Cee Dee Lamb at times last night looked like a future all-pro. He just has to clean up the drops. But my pick is Diggs. He will be a shutdown corner in this league with his athleticism and instincts.
The "Best Odds for First Starter to Get Cut" Award - Not cut but definitely benched, Ronald Jones. BA has all the faith in him but his confidence in himself gets shaken too easily. If he’s not careful he is going to see his snap share dwindle.
The "Deja Vu" Award- This game and the Rams game last year. With all the short passes to WRs that were very open and the last second field goal… I’m just glad this one ended with a game winning kick and not a Brady INT. I fully expect other teams to work similar attacks against us this year.
The "Damn, That Boy Can Play!" Award- Some RBers last year said Gronk was old and washed up and not worth the money or the draft capital. He totally changes how this team operates. Good blocker, great hands on contested catches but more than anything he finds ways to get open in holes of the defense.
The "Underrated Team Player" Award
Mike Evans. Dude is the essence of a team player. He takes on double coverage an opens it up for one on ones for everyone else. Tons of other WRs would cry about lack of opportunities but Mike is just chill. What he does doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet.
The "Which of the 3 Most Concerns You" Award - The defense will need to make adjustments with players injured and teams attacking them with short screens.
Special teams and Offense played well, special-teams was about as good as I can remember.
