38. Tampabay - QB - Jimmy GaroppoloI'm not completely sold on Glennon, but still think the Bucs need to offer some further competition. I really like Garoppolo here (I'm assuming we address our DL in FA).Note: I'd have liked to trade down here, or picked a QB in the 3rd, but with no 3rd round pick, we need to address the QB position with some real competition.

I like it,mostly because it is at a place where he can either provide a good camp push, and he has enough talent to think he may be able to be an able starter at some point (but since he was picked round 2, there is no inherent "rush" to get him in there).  There wouldn't be as much blowback from a failed round 2 prospect, as opposed to a round 1 prospect, picked #7 overall...The guy has shown he can spin it, he has a lightning release, has good numbers as a collegian, loves the game, and despite the "small" hands, he can throw it in adverse conditions, as playing in Illinois can be a "treat" in the winter...I can see him having Russell Wilson type success with Tampa.  I can see that.  Mostly because he has a high football IQ, and loves the game.  Bucs need a QB, and I am averse to taking Carr at 7.  I just don't like it, as I realize that no matter how much you may think a guy is "the man", he very well may not be, and that is always a lingering threat, and with pick 7, is it worth the inherent "bust" risk?  Every team is relatively confident in their early picks.  A lot of them wind up with egg on face syndrome.

The problem I have with Garoppolo is that "all" of the reports from the Senior Bowl had Carr as the best QB there. If that's the case and the Bucs plan to draft a QB early, just draft Carr.

This was my thinking as well, had Austin Seferian-Jenkins still been on the board, I would have very tempted to pick him with the second pick. The more I look at Garoppolo, the more I like him. If you like Glennon, you almost have to like Garoppolo because they are similar quarterbacks but Garoppolo has more mobility than Glennon. Also, if a change is needed mid season, Garoppolo's style is similar enough to Glennon that the rest of the offense will have a easier time making the change.Again, I would have liked to move down about 10 spots as I think he could still be there mid-2nd round, but I doubt he makes it out of the 2nd. Frankly, I was surprised that Houston didn't take him at the top of the 2nd. JMO.
