Penn = $7M cap savingif Penn think someone may offer $7M per year for him, he should call Robert Quinn & Jared Allen...$3M paycut or gone!Joseph = $6M cap savinginjury prone, overrated, and overpaid, not sure he is worth a million! got to go if he don't take a $3M paycutNicks = $2.3M or $7M cap saving (June 1 Cut/dead money = $2.35M in 2014 & $4.7M in 2015) = paycut or cut in Junewait June for medical evaluation... if he can play, you still have to rework the deal for a paycut but he should have a chance to recover much of the lost money...drop Carl's 2013 base salary from $7 million to $1 million + $3M in incentives that are based on playing time + $500K bonus if he make the Pro Bowl or playoffs... don't think he can have more than $3/4M in free agency with such a medical condition! (cap saving: $2.5M)Zuttah = $4M cap savinghe's a good backup C/G but an average starter, $1/2M paycut or gone... something like $2.5M + $500K in incentives that are based on playing time (cap saving: $1M)Michael Koenen = $3.25M cap saving$1.75M paycut or releaseDerek Landri = $1.5M cap savingpaycut for vet minimum salary or releaseextend McCoy, $10M per year deal... Geno Atkins(Bengals) signed a six-year, $56.423 million contract($31 million guaranteed)2015: cut Goldson(cap saving: $8M) then draft a new FS... use the cap room to extend David ($7M per year deal)... Sean Lee(Cowboys) signed a seven-year, $42.63 million contract ($16.1 million guaranteed + $9 million is available through incentives)Navorro Bowman(49ers) signed a seven-year, $46.37 million contract($25.5 million guaranteed)

Like everything but don't know about your Nick's scenario.  What leverage do you have to get him to negotiate down?  He already got a huge chunk of cash from us (the remnants of which are a sizable portion of our 14 cap regardless).  We lose if we release him.  I don't think he wants to play for 10 mi.  So I really doubt he is going to fight his way back to NFL football for 2-3.

Bye Koenen.Goldson might be gone too. Last year was horrible.Joseph. Def not worth 6M but how much of his issues were due to injury? Then again, he's frequently injured.

Pretty sure Goldson is all guaranteed in 14.  He'll be here next season.

threadkiller, you're right, the deal contains $22 million guaranteed, including a first-year roster bonus of $4.5 million, Goldson's first- and second-year salaries, and a fully guaranteed 2014 roster bonus of $3 million.have to wait 2015!

After June 1st only the current years expense remains on the books after the player is released. The balance accelerates onto the following years salary cap.for Nicks you can save $7M in 2014 and have $4.7M dead money in 2015

The issue is the cash. No way anyone can justify paying Nicks a new $7M in cash unless Jesus himself comes down and gives him a foot massage and heals it. The author's premise that fans shouldn't care about the cash because it's the Glazer's cash is stupid. It's the franchise's cash.

Not much to gain releasing him.  Might as well wait and see how he looks in training camp. And then they can make the call.

Eval the toe.  If it is an issue, cut his outta shape azz.Dude has essentially been out of the league for two seasons.  He isn't able to work as hard as he could, as a result of his leverage being compromised. His football shape is garbage, and that is the real issue.  I cannot imagine how obese he is right now...how out of shape he is...I get he is an ace guard, but he is expensive, and hasn't done a damned thing to warrant his checks.  Even when he is out there his impact is not worth the huge amount of money being sunk into a guard spot.  Just a terrible shame he got hurt.  Otherwise, this man is ridiculous when he is active.

You are correct sir. His salary for this season is fully guaranteed meaning you'd get $0 cap savings by cutting him.

He gets further injured and the Bucs run the risk of the injury kicking in the 2014 as a guarantee.

You guys are on crack.  There is no confusion.  There is no training camp.  There is no further injury.  There is no "making the call".the guy IS DONE.  The Bucs are absolutely INSANE if they ever let him on a practice field again.  He is a massive guy who can't plant securely on his base.  He WILL get a compensatory injury if you let him on the field.  Not "if".  WILL.His status is in the air because of that D-Bag Tynes and his cheap ho wife smelling a 10 million dollar payday for his 10 thousand dollar career.  Nicks playing again will be on par with Lazarus walking from his crypt.
