Nov. 27, 1983, Bucs and Houston Oilers, who are now the Tennessee Titans, played a game at Tampa Stadium. Just like now, they were at the time the worst franchises record-wise in 1983, earning the dubious distinction of playing in the very first repus bowl... Venerable Tampa Trib Sports columnist Tom McEwen coined the name 'repus', as the Bucs/Oilers game was essentially the undercard for the upcoming Jan. 1984 Super Bowl to be played at Tampa Stadium.
