@mikefreemanNFL 27mGM tells me Bucs' initial asking price was two No. 1s for Revis. Around the league, they were laughed at.At least they are aiming high, right???
People laughing at the Buccaneers organization?? That's new....
Exactly. Someone gets it. Revis may want out badly. But I doubt he would leave 16 mil behind.Getting rid of him is dumb. For many reasons, and his contract isn't an issue for the Bucs this season. They want to be cheap, if they let him walk. Period.
Aim high is right!Recouping picks is the only smart thing to do. Period.
Also dumb enough to give up picks AND pay revis 16mil.....wait, the Bucs did that last year :/
No one will care when its restructured to include a signing bonus and lower the cap hit.Details, people. Details.
And Revis is going to restructure to stay in Cleveland.....why? He's not going to agree to restructure with anyone. He'll just take getting cut and go sign where he wants.
He doesn't have to restructure for Cleveland. They'll have $30M of cap room even with Revis and Pettine values man to man CBs.

That's a completely different point. Don't say nobody will care when it's restructured when he's not going to restrcture. Not that you said that, but that's the point I was replying to. The only way he gets dealt is if someone has no problem paying him 16 a year. Otherwise the Bucs either have to stick with him or cut him.Hell, I'd probably deal Revis and the Bucs #1 pick to Cleveland for the #4 overall pick and a 4th rounder. I'll even throw in Glennon.
Yay...trade Revis to Cleveland...then we solidify our position as the new Cleveland...
Good for them! C'mon, Bucs, fleece someone!
If we cut penn, we will have over 30 mil WITH Revis! This is beyond absurd.
No one is gonna do that. Seriously, a 4th for a boat anchor type contract is all you will get. You are paying them to take the deal off your hands. Again, if he was as valuable as people think no one would be laughing at them.
We will have $47 million in cap space by cutting Penn and Revis. What are we going to spend that money on?

Google what "unilaterally" means. Its not up to Revis.
Nobody.

ANTHONY COLLINS AND MICHAEL JOHNSON BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :'(

You don't have to "pay" anybody to take his deal off your hands. He doesn't cut anything to cut.
As far as what CB we sign in FA.....TIllman seems like a sure fire choice as a 2 year stop gap. Probably go after a great nickel guy like Munnerlyn or Thurmond too. Then I think we really do draft Gilbert in the 1st round. Lovie could possibly trade Banks. I'm not saying he will or should, but if he isn't the type of corner Lovie wants then I can see it happening. Obviously Lovie isn't messing around and will make this his team one way or another.
Banks doesn't have to be traded as you can shift him to become a safety.
Been over this man. He is not explosive and he is built like a string bean. He is never gonna be a safety.
If explosion is so important for a safety he would still be a corner back. His game is about coming up and making hard nose tackles and playing around the box. He has the frame to add 10-15 lbs.
Cornerbacks need long speed. Safeties don't. They both have to be explosive though. When a safety sees the play developing he has to be able to explode to right spot to make a play. And 6'2" 185lbs is not a safety in any league. Banks is an boundary guy that would get destroyed in the middle. He'll either be a #2 CB or a bust. There is nowhere else for him to play.
Frazier has featured smaller safties in his defense so this is not unprecedented. Also explosion is not an important part of being a safety IMO. It is about anticipation and having everything in front of you. Explosive, high twitch DB's tend to play CB. CB's with high twitch but also good long speed make for even better m2m CB's.
