How much would Revis lose if he hits free agency? $6M? $8M?
With Shields being paid $10 million a year, it is safe to assume Revis would command at least $11 million a season.

Nothing, I'm assuming any deal he makes will have more guaranteed signing bonus cash this year than $16m. Over the long term hard to say, because we were never gonna ride out the whole deal anyways so he might long term be better off getting a new deal at a healthy and younger state than getting cut a few years later.
Again, if he was as valuable as people think no one would be laughing at them.
Tend to agree. We'll see what happens.

Nobody is laughing because they don't think he's valuable, they're laughing because all they have to do is wait til he's released then go after him. I don't agree with getting rid of him but if you're gonna do it at least get something in return.
Rick Stroud ?@NFLSTROUD 1mIf the #Bucs asked a teams for two No 1 picks for Darrelle Revis, they're unaware of it. Anything above a mid-round pick would do it

Wow. Just wow. What a joke!!
I know it's probably been said but rumors of cutting the guy can HELP the trade negotiation... A team like Denver will not want to compete with other teams for his $ervice$.JMHO

the contract, right? why wouldn't a team give a middle rounder to take him off the market before he gets to FA? they don't want the contract . . that's my guess. Revis holds all the cards

And compete with the rest of the league as opposed to locking him up with a trade?

I really don't think he will get $16 million on the market. $13-$14 at most imo. The reason he isn't renegotiating with the Bucs is because they gave him that contract and he expects them to stick to it. I can't blame him at all. He will get cut, loose a few million, and be able to play for whatever team he wants. One that wants the services of a future HOFer in their prime.
The "Bucs" that gave him that contract are not longer here

Per Luke Easterling @NFLDraftReportAs @PSchrags is reporting, #Bucs fans shouldn't panic yet. Multiple potential trade partners have been communicating w/#Bucs re: Revis.

If they wanted to pay what the Bucs contract stipulates, they would trade for him. Why open it up to battling every team for him. No team wants to pay that contract.

Of course, this coudl be teams asking permission to talk to Revis' agent for possible contract renegotiation. Doesn't mean that a trade will happen. I honestly think this is the major hold up, not the Bucs holding out for higher compensation.
I like the way this is going...
