From PFT:
For teams that would have a hard time persuading cornerback Darrelle Revis to choose them from a field that would include, you know, contending franchise, there’s only one way to get Revis: Trade for him.And so at a time when teams like the Patriots and Broncos are, per a source with knowledge of the situation, biding their time under the assumption Revis will be cut, any team that wants to prevent Revis from picking his next destination can trade for his contract.Per a league source, the Browns are indeed exploring the possibility of trading for Revis. The Raiders, we’re told, are not.In Cleveland, Revis would be reunited with former Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, who’s now the head coach of the Browns.
Browns' 2nd and both 3rds! make it happen!!!!
Swap spots with the Browns, get their second and a player...deal!
Browns' 2nd and both 3rds! make it happen!!!!
Both sides have no leverage, it's difficult to imagine what picks we'd get.The Browns seem to be the only ones now willing to trade for him, which gives them all the leverage. But I suppose the Bucs could counter that by saying we'll just cut him and then there's no way in hell he'll choose to sign with you guys. Then the Browns counter with, "So you'll take nothing over something?". Then the Bucs are like "**CENSORED**ing got us Browns".I swear I'm not talking to myself.

This sounds almost exactly like the conversations we speculated were happening between the Bucs and Jets last year.
Some guy posted on the Browns board this morning at 8 that Revis would be in Cleveland by the end of the day. http://thebrownsboard.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28694 I'm sure it's FOS, but it's fun to think that the Bucs could get something like he says. Originally he states the Indy first and a 3 or 4 but then later says that Mack is part of the deal.Like I said, I'm sure it's some dude making stuff up, but, you know, any reason to be optimistic.
Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 56sThe #Bucs have until 4 pm tomorrow to complete a deal for Darrelle Revis until it’s decision time. They plan to take that time.ughhhProFootballTalk ?@ProFootballTalk 2mSource tells PFT the Raiders are not pursuing Darrelle Revis, but the Browns are.& ughhh
They better plan to rethink releasing him as well. Because at this point teams are going to call their bluff.
If I were the FO, I wouldn't release him. I'd pay him the 1.5 and make some teams sweat (like the Jets did to us last year).

Exactly
That would cost the Bucs a third round pick, though, rather than a fourth.
Yeah, but if we can hang on to him and get a 3rd and a 2nd then it's worth it.
And Vontae Davis got basically $10 mil perYou wanna know the difference between Vontae Davis' contract and the albatross Revis contract we are so afraid of Bucs fans? Brandon Myers for $2 million/yr and Josh McCown for 4-5 million per (at best). That's right. We are willing to cut one of the best players of his generation so we have room to sign a one dimensional TE and HOPE a 34-year old QB chooses us to add competition.

To which you say... now the price just went up.
You can say that right now, doesn't mean it will be effective.
Then you keep the best man cb in football. Such a loss.
