I don't have anything to add to the conversation. Just going on record that I prefer having Revis than extra draft picks.

But but didn't you hear? It is highly likely that anyone the Bucs draft will be better than an all time corner in the prime of his career.

We finally get a legitimate league superstar and there's talk of trading him away after his first season?SMDH.

It would need to be some obscene offer. With news that the cap could be as high as $135 mil, there is zero reason to unload his cap number. If it really bugged Licht that much, just re-sign him to new deal that reduces his cap hit.

I'd be in favor of trading him because I think CB isn't one of your more important positions and the recent reports were that Lovie and Licht think every position needs to be upgraded, either at starter or depth. The fact that this is a really deep draft and the Bucs would recoup a third (at the expense of a fourth) and they'd acquire another pick is a bonus. For those that think the Bucs would need to draft his replacement in the first, the Bears didn't have a first round CB while Lovie was there and I don't remember the Bucs taking a first round CB under Dungy. I just don't think it's the priority for the defensive philosophy that they have; that they think they can draft and coach up later picks to play well enough.

If this is true - this is the new regime's strategy for this off-season: Bhxg56_Caaaya_C.jpg

I'm not saying trade him or don't, but if the new regime wants to blow this thing up and rebuild the roster.....gaining a couple top 50 picks and an additional $16M to spend in FA would go a long way in accomplishing that. Just saying it might not be as crazy as many of you think. Also, we gave a 1st and a 3rd when he was still hurt and a big risk. If we did trade him now that he is healthy and shown he is back...I think he's worth a 1st and a 2nd minimum. Maybe even two 1st.

They talk like they can turn this thing around overnight.  Doesnt sound like  " blow it up " talk. There will be lots of turn over but it wont involve our pro bowl players , it will involve turds like Mike Williams..

So tired of this "argument".  People keep saying it like it makes sense.Whether we are under the cap or not with his salary is irrelevant.  What matters is what we could do with that salary other than paying one CB.  We can use up the rest of the cap space, then use up what we have spent on him.  I would rather see us convert his salary into a an elite passrusher, and/or multiple other players.  I would LOVE to convert him into some kind of picks, as that was the worst part of the deal -- not only did we overpay for him, but we lost out on a cheap first rounder as well.

Ok, who's the elite pass rusher you want to spend that 16 mil on?  You wanna give Hardy 10-11 mil a season on a long term deal?  You Might be able to get Bennett and Tuck both signed.  But remember, unlike Revis current contract, any deal you sign with these guys is making a commitment for more then just 2014.  So who are you willing to commit long term (or at least significant cap for the next couple years if you do a Dom guarantee the first 2/3 years instead of signing bonus deal) that we can use Darelle's money on?  You people just love your theoretical cap space.  **CENSORED** just gets a little more muddy when you look at specifically what you would do with it.  But I'm all ears.  I want a better 2014 (and beyond) as much as anyone.  So you want to get rid of him, what are you willing to accept from another team?  Are the 20th and 52nd pick enough?  Would you take the 15th this season and that teams 2nd next?  What is the minimum that you want for Darrelle Revis?

Realistically Revis could equal two draft picks, Jared Allen, FA back/insurance QB, and vet CB like Tillman. and then the money(19mil?) we currently have can be used to bring in quality depth and rolled over to extend McCoy. I mean that doesnt sound bad at all to me.

What?  He is a 16 mil cap number in 2014.  I would not trade him in 2014 for Allen a backup QB and Tillman.  No **CENSORED**ing way.  That does not make us better in 2014, and certainly not beyond.  You are suggesting taking 2 players who are literally on their last legs.  I don't know if you can fit those 3 guys in at 16 mil against the 2014 cap, but if you could it would definitely require also tying yourself to them beyond 2014.  I would definitely rather have Darelle Revis on the books for 16 mil in 2015 then Allen, a backup qb, and Tillman in 15.But that's it, that's his cap space, I don't know what the "and then the money" is about.  You just spent the money, and locked into future years with that money.  So there's no using that money to extend McCoy.  You just spent it.  *I reread and understand now Pepsi.  Talking about the current cap room with Darrelle on the roster.*You do still have theoretical draft picks though.  I do love those.  Again, start talking to me at 2 1's.  If Lovie and the GM don't think we can compete in 2014, well that sucks, but again I do want them looking at our situation realistically.  Just don't come at me giving him away for what we gave up or less.  We have a much more valuable piece then the Jets had last season.  We give that away and I will be fuming pissed.

Damn.  I'd swear cap space won football games....

Dude do you understand how many holes this team has??? OL, WR TE should I keep going???? He is one guy and over paid at that

We are under the cap...so how does that keep us from filling those holes?

You can be tired of it all you want, its factual.  It makes perfect sense.  Unless his salary is keeping us from filling other holes, then its a non issue.  Seeing as how we are under the cap, we have not been kept from signing anyone.  Until you get to the cap, who you pay what matters not.

Especially when there is plenty of fat to be trimmed elsewhere....guys who get paid a lot and dont actually contibute ,like Davin and Nicks. Why would you start with a probowler like Revis ?
