Penn's contract is 30mil Josephs is in the 50's i think...Nicks is 37mil or something close...all 3 of them have been underwhelming the last couple years...why not trade away them for extra picks and still keep Revis? Neither of those 3 have performed as well as Revis last year at their positions. We need OL Depth and DL Depth...yes getting rid of some of those guys creates an even bigger problem, but gives us the opportunity to build through the draft and solidify the positions for years to come.Premium draft picks are cheap as hell now with the cap on rookie salaries. We could pick up replacement OL in free agency...any body have a list of the available FA Guards and Tackles?
Revis is a very good corner, and mccoy is a very dlineman. So of course we're going to pay "too much."However, revis does have a chance of being traded because of his contract allowing tampa cap freedom after his release, and lovie's entrance. He may like revis, or he may think his value is so much that he could trade him off for another position and "survive" with the rest of the corners we already have.He likes solid corners but he doesn't need one as much in his system. Hopefully they use him, but it would be exciting to see what they would do with the extra picks.
I'd do that Jags or Raiders deal

Looking at total contract doesnt make a lot of sense when compared to looking at how much each year and how many years left. Penn's isnt horrible and he is likely to be back with the team. Joseph can be cut without a cap penalty and I think he will since his $6 million next year could be much better spent. Nicks...well next year his sucks because we would only save about $2 mil by cutting him. Nobody is going to trade for a bottom 10 Guard (Joseph) or a potentially career over one (Nicks) due to injury. Best bet would be to cut Joseph ($6 mil), Zuttah ($4 mil), and Koenen ($3.25 mil) and use that $13.25 mil freed up to upgrade those positions. Nicks' situation is tricky and it would probably be better for everyone if he found a way to get some of his contract and retire.

When I meant trade I didn't mean for anything more than a 4th rounder...which is better than flat out cutting them because it saves on cap penalties if there are any and the other team has the headache of trying to get them to restructure,,,Now if (whoever our GM is) comes in and demands that they restructure or face being cut I'd be all for keeping them for depth purposes but honestly stock piling later picks to use as ammo to move up and down in the 2nd 3rd and 4th rounds is really what we need. Lets face it neither of these guys are getting younger...Joseph and Nicks are still under 30 if I'm not mistaken, so it shouldn't be TOO awful hard to find someone willing to take a chance(assuming Nicks is even capable of playing ball again) And Penn would be a good fit for the Rams who could buy themselves some extra time on getting a LT to protect Bradford and leave them some more options in the draft to shore up their defense a little bit more.
We're not (at least I don't think) looking to be playoff contenders next year...Yes we have some pieces in place but knowing Lovie he's going to want to build through the draft and shore up every position. What we lacked under Dom and Raheem/Schiano is any real depth at key positions...we scrambled to find RB's this year we're ridiculously thin at WR outside of Williams and Jackson. We have 1 legit TE...To me it would be best for the old "addition by subtraction" approach. If we were to go trading away CB it would leave us with Banks. because really anybody past Banks isn't all that great or worthy enough to be a starter. So you keep Revis, Banks...maybe pick up 1 FA instead of the two it would cost us to replace Revis.
Trading him makes Cb a problem position for us again, we would have to use a draft pick for a change and that a crapshoot. I i'd keep our pro bowl cb and worry about it down the line. Never get rid of someone that makes your team better unless you have no choice.

Teams are very unlikely to take a chance on trading for a guy if they are thinking they would be cap casualties...which Zuttah and Joseph are at the top of that list. I dont see anyone giving us a 4th or 5th for either of these guys. Nick's age isnt the question, his ability to every play again is. Why wouldnt the rams just draft the best LT at #2 then?
Can't believe anyone is considering keeping Penn. His play was horrible towards the end of the season, I expect it to be even worse next season. Joseph can go too, I'm not defending his play, but Penn absolutely has to go.

i agree! I', tired of his turnstile ass...
Love Revis, but I just don't buy the hype. I don't think any player who is not a QB, is worth $16M per year. I'd like to either see him renegotiate to a contract with guaranteed money that averages $12.5M/yr....or see him traded.
Not even a QB is worth that. Both NFC QB's in the conference game make under $1.5 million a year.
Penn and dj are overpaid slackers. You could draft their positions in fourth round, start them, and their production would be as good or better. There is absolutely no reason to keep penn or dj, outside of continuity reasons. I mean, what's the point in keeping them even for continuity reasons either, as they can't keep the qb upright?

Really a ridiculously stupid example because both those guys are on their rookie deals. Lavonte David is one of the best defensive players in the league but he makes under a million a year because he's on his rookie deal.Look guys. You can have fun going through your little fantasy scenarios about shipping off Revis but they aren't happening. The Bucs have one of the greatest cover corners of all time and now have a coach that knows how to use him. Fucking deal with it.

That's reality. Rookies are capable of making the SB so let's draft one worth 2 cents and keep Glennon as a backup. I think you read into something that wasn't there while the comment was just a dig on Glennon. :p
You have to overpay to acquire quality vets , but you counteract that by being able to underpay quality players on their 1st contract - like Lavonte and Doug. That's just how it works. Very few get paid what they actually deserve.
