Trade Revis straight up for JAX first rounder. If you get the right player he will contribute to the team for 10 years. How many years does Revis have left? 3? 4?
7? 8?
lol...I still can't believe people want to trade this guy...they were absolutely enamored with him when we traded for him because our secondary was shit...now they want to trade our best CB for an unproven...LOLNext time you guys have a thought, just let it go.With Revis don't have to worry about one side of the field...because we know it's covered...Having someone with his skills helps this defense tremendously. Gives Leslie Frazier more of an opportunity to be creative with his coverages and blitz packages.

Two things. First off I said on these boards the year before they went and got Revis and Goldson that the defense would not work even if they had Revis and Goldson. I was saying the whole time that it was the scheme that was the problem and not so much the players. Secondly, Revis can't shut down half of the field. That is what the idiot coach tried last year and it failed miserably. NOBODY can shut down half of the football field. It's impossible and trying to do it makes you look stupid. Revis is as pure a cover corner as you will ever see. Having him play half the field, or thirds the way Schiano did was a massive failure.

Do you watch football this century? Teams don't run 1 or 2 WR sets anymore. Revis island is 1/3 or 1/4 these days. How this lost on some of you is beyond me.
Revis will stay. At least for one more season.Easy to sever the contract if needed...
You are a freaking idiot dude. Half the field means erases a receiver to that side. Why was it that just two years ago, Revis was all that, and now in Tampa he's irrelevant according to you jack asses?
Who said he was irrelevant? I never even said he wasn't a great player. He just doesn't justify his salary. Sorry that is lost on you mrs. revis. Hell, I'm even a Revis fan but NO corner is worth that cash in relation to the cap. Sorry dude but that math don't jive.PS Just out of morbid curiosity...how is the field divided in three, four or five wide sets? Is that still halves? Who's the idiot?
It wasn't right of me to call you an idiot, that was dumb, I apologize. I understand what you and others are saying but I just feel like you guys under appreciate the versatility he can bring to your defense. He is arguably the only corner in the league who can go against any receiver on the field and virtually erase him from the stat sheet. It allows you to do so many things in terms of rolling coverages and bringing certain pressures. His salary is large but it's not like it comes closing to hurting Tampa from signing anyone to make them a playoff contender. That's the price of having a future HOFer in their prime.
I'm starting to think he's a little overrated. Like someone said...why were the Jets still a decent defense without him? How much difference does he really make?
Great player, had a decent season, and will be even better next season with better schemes, and him being 100%.I like him, but damn, those draft picks are very tempting.
Revis doesn't count as 16 mill against the cap. He didn't last year, he won't this season. They can, and will restructure it in a way for him to have a low-cap hit, via bonuses (like VJack did last season). So stop bringing his 16 mill like it's killing our cap. IT ISN'T.

Revis' cap number was $16mil in 2013 and it will be again in 2014 unless he's let go....with no dead money....or restructured.
How do you even know those teams would even be interested? Jacksonville has a ton of holes...they are not going to trade a bunch of picks for one player. It takes two to tango. What's fueling this fan speculation are people who are obsessed with the idea of getting more picks to trade up and get a QB.So you want to trade one of our 3 best defensive players because you want a QB, who will be a question mark? And who do we replace Revis with? Banks and Johnson? Good luck with that secondary in the NFC South. We'll be toasted.

And as if there wasn't enough proof that you have no idea what you're talking about you spit out this gem.

Actually it's 100% true. You might want to go and check your facts then come back and explain how a guy who is basically on a series of 1 year $16 million contracts didn't count $16 million against last years cap. Here's a little help, tell us, which parts of that $16 million didn't count? His $13 million base salary, can't be that. His $1.5 million roster bonus, wasn't that.Maybe his $1.5 million workout bonus, nope not that either.Wait that's $16. million, so how's this work? This should be almost as interesting as when somebody tried claiming Revis only took up 7.5% of the Bucs salary cap and made a fool of themselves in the process..

Please don't lump everyone into one group. Many of us hated the idea of using so many resources that could have been more wisely spent elsewhere on a single player.I don't think any Bucs fan had or has a problem with Revis the player being on the roster, it was the $16 million a year which far surpasses the next best CB in the league, it was giving up a 1st & 3rd rounder when we were the only ones bidding. It was an awful trade and contract for a great player. As far as not worrying about one side of the field, 1990 called and whats their defensive scheme back. That doesn't happen in todays NFL where the good offenses seemingly have more options than is legally allowed on the field at any one time. You win by having quality depth not a single vastly overpaid elite talent taking away a single option.
