I assure you the ownership and front office are measuring fan reaction to these rumors. Maybe it is a long shot, but maybe it alters the thinking a bit on what ultimately occurs here. This decision could have huge ramifications on this team in future years, not just 2014. There really is no need to cut Revis other than to recoup a 3rd rounder vs. 4th rounder. It is unlikely this team can be rebuilt into Super Bowl contention in 1 offseason. The incremental cap money can not buy us a Super Bowl ring next season. However, KEEPING REVIS FOR 2015 and 2016 might really help. If we were truly intending to replace Revis with at least a competent corner like Vontae Davis or Verner, that will cost us $8-$11 million/ year so we save $5-$8 million by cutting him in 2014. That $ will not buy us a championship. That would basically get us Saffold at guard. So we can get Vontae Davis or Verner plus Saffold or keep Revis. I prefer the latter. The fact that the salary cap goes up by $10 million+ in 2015 season means that Revis' contract wont be so out of line. By 2016 season that will be what players clearly inferior to him will be nearly making. So he is probably being over paid by $3- $5 million this season and $2-$4 million next season, not enough to warrant tossing our 2013 1st round pick into the garbage, a pick that ended up being the Defensive Rookie of the Year.Please call tmrw and voice your displeasure.
