Marinelli could do wonders with this d-line, potentially even with Bowers. Hopefully he could get him to break out of his shell.
not sure about Bowers, but the normally reserved Bowers did tweet right after Schiano was fired that Black Monday was serious! Maybe he was happy about the firing of Schiano? Bowers doesn't strike me as a Marinelli guy though.
Marinelli is under contract with the Cowboys. Can't have him.
Wouldn't shock me to see them dump the whole defensive staff

Better promote him quick. Monte is gone and Marinelli would be a perfect DC on a Lovie Smith coaching staff here.

If he gets a D coordinator position he can.
only applies to HC promos

I think the unwritten rule around the league is you let your guys get promoted. When Arizona denied the McNulty request, it was somewhat of a shock.

WrongIf assistants from other teams are given permission they are eligible to be hired as coordinators with other teams. But Cowboys would have to give permission.

go edit your excessive "Nooooooo" post in the other thread, please
@TonyDungySaw on ProFootballlTalk the Bucs are considering Rich McKay and Lovie Smith. Those would be best moves they could make.
Lets say Lovie does come. Do you think he would wanna bring Cutler in?

it seems to be the new norm.

is Cutler a UFA?

how am I wrong? We can't just snag him by offering him a DC promo. They would have to let him out if his contract.

Will be. Chicago media is reporting they Bears do not want to spend the $$$ to keep him.
I would love to see McKay return. People point to the cap hell we were in when he left, but we don't know how he would have handled it. Players could have renegotiated contracts (or been released). It wasn't until Gruden took control over football decisions and we started signing Raiders re-treads that the trouble really came to a head.We would have been much better off with McKay as GM than we were with Gruden/Allen making personel decisions. As for Lovie, as long as we could get a great OC, I'm for it. Not my first choice, but much better than most of the names I'm seeing people mention here.
McKay's GM duties were taken from him and given to Dimitroff. He left us in cap hell. Why would we bring him back?
