Don't forget how he tried to take the Fslcons job and was denied and less than a week after he got himself fired was sitting in Blanks owner box when the Bucs were playing them. Screw him!
Coach Gruden, is that you?
...and then, he headed up the competition committee...

Gruden wanted to sign Darrell Russell in 2003, McKay said no because he felt Sapp would view him as his replacement. In 2004 when McKay was gone Gruden did not return Sapp's phone call when Sapp asked if he would match the Raiders contract, but signed Darrell Russell.
McKay had every ounce of power stripped from him. He had become a figurehead with no say in the football operations. What did you expect him to do?

The Gruden 2003 on/Allen combo were dark times indeed for the Bucs. I hated McKays drafts, but you got the feeling the guy knew how to run a team. Allen just appeared to be a politician with no direction at all.
McKay drafted some good players but overall his drafts were pretty sucky as well. Especially on offense.
