Darden is still in the league but he was over drafted with Nichols, Vaughn, and now Trask. So the fact these guys are hanging around in the NFL is a small feather in Licht's cap.
Value matters just as much as the players going into certain situations.
If you look at this years draft it is full of value and the polar opposite of the 2016 draft or even the 2021 draft.
Egbuka a top fifteen players falls into the Bucs lap at 20. Similar to what happened with JSN falling to the Seahawks #19 overall a few years ago.
Morrison could have easily been a first round pick good value in round 2.
Parrish a boundary and nickle that went at the bottom of round 3. This is great value and like McCollum the upside is huge if that player becomes a full time starter beyond the first two rounds.
Round 4 David Walker as a situation edge or maybe more solid value.
Roberts 5th round good value where he can play multiple spots on the DL.
Tez Johnson return specialist but also capable of more than just gadget plays as he can run the route tree. Good value for a 7th round pick.

Egbuka should have been drafted in the top 5. There is a Moss like certainty to him. If Carolina could do their draft over, they would draft Egbuka over Tet.
“It was a good four-year run. You know, we just feel like we got a better chance with Teddy,” Bowles said of Trask.
Asked about Trask being a practice squad candidate, Bowles wasn’t upbeat. “Things we’re still discussing. I mean, [summer No. 4 QB] Connor [Bazelak] did very well as well. We also like him, too,” Bowles said
Bowles
"Obviously, (Bridgewater) brings experience, but he brings a wealth of knowledge — he can command the offense right now," Bowles said. "Him being older has a lot to do with it, but him being accurate and understanding what we're trying to do has a lot to do with it as well.”
What happens when the Falcons, Panthers or Saints bring him in?

Congrats to undrafted rookies Josh Williams, Ben Chukwuma, and John Bullock.
We will see how long this lasts but for now these rookies made it to the roster.
Ben Chukwuma, is a guy thats gonna stick around all 4 years if he keeps on improving. Paid him 300k guarantee as an UDFA they def already saw him making the roster and I'm sure the staff felt like he was another draft pick.
Him and tez were probably both on the board but tez being all the way out west and Chuk in georgia its easier to sign guys who live closer
What happens when the Falcons, Panthers or Saints bring him in?
can’t see the falcons or saints bringing him in to the active roster
would imagine canales saw enough of trask in his time to pass on him
but if he does latch on, then what? Are you suggesting we should be worried lol

crazy that he isn’t even practice squad material in Bucs eyes. He’s better than bazelak so it might just be cutting ties to cut ties which doesn’t make sense; trask definitely should be practice squad worthy

maybe its that they see no developmental potential so why not move on. Good for both sides

That is a good observation.
I think what the Bucs realize with 7th rounders and UDFA is that while Licht jokes about going home early the truth is that those 7th round picks are just a way to secure first dibs on UDFAs.

Maybe they want to give Trask a chance to do more on another team. Mayfield is the clear starter and Teddy B is the #2. So at this point Trask as a #3 isn't going to help him. Maybe it would help the team but then again the team likes the upside with Connor Bazelak. It was said that Bazelak wasn't very accurate but he finished with pretty respectable completion percentage from pre season and that is with third and fourth string targets and blocking.
Like Palmer, Trask ran out of time to show something that he could excel at for this team.

This
Probably good for players and the team

I don’t think Trask is a dummy. So, worried? No. But if I was in a divisional organization, I may bring him in to see what advantage I can get from having his intel. I mean, it’s not the worst strategy.
