Bucs to Hold Private Workout with Duke QB Anthony Boone By Jenna Laine Bucs Insider March 30, 2015, 15:28 PM Anthony Boone Duke quarterback A contingent of Bucs representatives will attend Jameis Winston’s pro day on Tuesday, but he won’t be the only quarterback the team is eyeing this week. Duke quarterback Anthony Boone will work out for members of the coaching staff on April 1, a source has told Sports Talk Florida. The workout will include Boone’s receivers Jamison Crowder (5 ft 8, 185) and Issac Blakeney (6ft 6, 225). Quarterbacks coach Mike Bajakian is expected to attend, along with receivers coach Andrew Hayes-Stoker, so the receivers will be getting a look too.At his Duke pro day last week, which was attended by representatives from 29 NFL teams, Boone completed 53 of 58 passes. He showed a trimmed down physique too, having dropped 13 pounds from 231 to 218 (he’s 6ft 0) since the combine in an effort to improve his overall athleticism. He clocked a 4.85 and 4.83 in the 40, a significant improvement from his 5.03 in Indianapolis. His three-cone drill went from 7.47 to 7.20. His vertical went from 26 1/2 to 29.In terms of velocity at the combine (this is measured by a radar gun in miles per hour) Boone was measured at 56, tied with Marcus Mariota, just behind South Alabama’s Brandon Bridge (57), Oregon State’s Sean Mannion (57) and Southeast Louisiana’s Bryan Bennett (60). Winston measured in at 55.At Duke, Boone started 25 games in his career, including every game he played in his junior and senior seasons. In 2014, he threw for 2,700 yards, 19 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. In his career, he amassed 5,789 passing yards with 38 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.Right now, all signs point to Winston being selected as the Bucs’ first overall pick, but it wouldn’t be out of the question for the team to select a quarterback later on, similar to what Washington did with Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins.link
