It would be a joke if he doesn't get in. No other corner has his resume. Dude defined the position for years. It's the very definition of a Hall of Famer. I'm surprised he's not in yet, but it does often come down to slots available. Reavis is a first-year ballot, so I doubt they put him in over Barber. Lewis? Meh. Had a lot of picks over 16 years but didn't define the position the way Barber did. I guess we'll see.

I agree with you, just not sure the voters do

So the Simeon Rice case is gone? He has a better one than some guys who are already in. But this is what happens when you get robbed of Defensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP

Hope this is Ronde's year. He truly deserves to be in the HOF. He will always be remembered here in Tampa for one of the most iconic plays in Bucs history that closed the curtain on Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. Couldn't have happened to a better group of fans. They treat visiting fans like shit in Philadelphia.

Philly is the shithole of the East Coast and their fans are trash.

No better sports experience than being in that crap stadium watching the Bucs close it down, while their fan base crying.

Even more so than watching them christen their new stadium in person.

Simeon is so disrespected. He was an all time great. He’d of been voted HOF years ago if he played anywhere else.

@rhbucsfan problem with Simeon is there are a lot of good pass rushers he gets passed up for.

Playing for a small market team his whole career certainly doesn’t help

Rice has the same problem as Torry Holt in that they retired when their contemporaries stuck around for another couple years and acquired stats. I put up Rice's resume vs Taylor's resume, without the names, on a poll on another message board and it was overwhelmingly in favor of Rice having the better career. Rice retired at the age of 34. At 34+ Taylor hung on for 4 mediocre seasons by piled up another 22.5 sacks, putting him ahead of Rice. Taylor also has ZERO post-season sacks in 9 games. Rice has 8 post-season sacks in 7 games.

Why wasn't Selmon, Sapp, Brooks, Lynch, etc. equally disrespected for playing in Tampa? I don't think where he played is the issue. I think it's more that he is seen as a one-trick-pony.  But it was one helluva trick in sacking the QB.

Is Robert Mathis a HOF'er? I wouldn't say so, and he has more sacks, tackles, TFL's, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, etc..

Rice tried to hang around like Taylor, but nobody in the NFL wanted to sign him. That's why Rice signed with the New York Sentinels (UFL) in 2008. That should tell you something.

What about Rice's resume do you believe to be better than Taylor's? Taylor has better stats and more accolades, and they came into the league one year apart.

1. Rice was dominant in the post-season. He doesn't even get credit for his 3rd sack in the Super Bowl because it came on a 2 point conversion. Taylor 0 sacks in 9 playoff games.

2. Rice has more double digit sack seasons, even when you give Taylor credit for a 9.5 season.

3. Rice was on one of the greatest defenses of all time. Not only that, he was the best player on the team. Brooks was running in TDs that Rice was causing and they gave him DPOY.

4. Yes Taylor has more awards including DPOY. MEDIA BIAS. Taylor was a media darling, Rice was looked at differently. Taylor got DPOY on a 6-10 team because he ran in TDs vs Rex Grossman and an old Brad Johnson. Meanwhile Urlacher dragged the Bears to 13-3 and the Super Bowl.

1. Yeah, Simeon was great sacking the QB in the postseason. But Taylor had more tackles and TFL’s while starting one less game. But being great in a small sample of postseason games really doesn’t (or shouldn’t) get you in the HOF. Does Larry Brown get to go in because he had 5 postseason picks?

2. Again, that’s great. But Taylor had more sacks in his career. If Simeon had Taylor’s longevity, he may be in.  But he didn’t. You can’t ding Taylor because he was a better NFL player for a longer period of time. That’s a credit to him.

3. Rice wasn’t the best player on a team that had three HOF’ers, two of those guys were first ballot in Sapp & Brooks, with a probable 4th in Ronde. This statement is absurd and shows a ridiculous amount of bias.

4. Do you think it’s possible Rice was looked at differently because he wasn’t the overall player Taylor was? As we’ve discussed in the past, your perception isn’t always reality. Jason Taylor didn’t have the luxury of playing with two first-ballot HOF’ers, a third HOF’er in Lynch, and a probable HOF in Barber. He actually was the best defensive player on most of his teams.

I’m not really arguing against Rice being in the HOF.  He was great at sacking the QB, and that’s a huge deal. But he wasn’t a better NFL player than Jason Taylor or the best player on the Buccaneers. That’s ridiculous.

1. Ira Kaufman, who is in the those rooms, said post-season games have gotten players into the HOF. So it is a metric.

2. Again, Taylor had more sacks because he had some mediocre seasons on the backend. If that matters to you, it shouldn't. This is exactly why Holt is getting screwed.

3. Rice was the best player on the Bucs in 2002 and maybe the league. He had 20.5 sacks and 9 forced fumbles. He was unblockable. Two of Brooks' 4 regular season TDs that year were from Rice knocking the ball out from behind. That is one of the most dominant seasons in league history. Forced fumble in each of the 3 post-season games. Maybe if Taylor did that he would have a bigger sample size.

4. I don't know why the media does what they do. But the media is too stupid to have the amount of influence they do.
