Rookie Symposium was Therapeutic for WinstonGil Arcia    @GilArciaTBCJul 15, 2015 Rookies_Zpsxggnzfau.jpgRookies2_Zpsfspju1B0.PngBuccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston talked about a moment during the Rookie Symposium that had a positive effect on him.The NFL holds its Rookie Symposium annually and provides lessons on how rookies should handle themselves professionally in the league among other things. We know several veterans and Hall of Famers speak to the first year players but it’s not often that we get to hear what the players experienced. There have been interviews with some players who generalize their thoughts on the symposium but never expand on some of the interactions they encountered. For Bucs rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, it was a moment of talking about his past and he shared that on WBSR 1450 AM in Pensacola, Fl.“We actually had a couple times to discuss our past and our everyday life and discuss the way we grew up,” Winston said. “It wasn’t just learning new rules and that stuff. We had a chance to talk. We were in the same room with the Carolina Panthers and we just had an open discussion and we were just talking and pouring stuff out over and over again. Just to hear everyone’s story and background was a learning experience for me.”Group discussions are great platforms for people to realize their previous transgressions and make some life changes. We know that the NFL is making every attempt to help these young players do just that and with the way Winston described that part of the symposium it sounds like the league has the right approach. The former Florida State standout also talked about his time at FSU, the quarterback competition in Tampa Bay and more.
