I am a fan of White but is it possible he slides down the chart?

Lol.

Are we going to let White get a carry with the 1’s in the new scheme before crowning Bucky?

33 total yards and a TD on the first drive. Not bad for a cat that has a football savant wondering if it’s possible he’s sliding down the depth chart.

Biggs, "your" one to  struggle with question marks, so this is Josh Q discussing that first drive

"The lone note I have on this rep is for White. As compared to most people who are hyper-focused on the Bucs, I am pretty down on him. Not that I think he is a bad back, but I don’t see the upside as a runner that others project. This run would be an example of him leaving meat on the bone.

After his initial cutback he shadows Goedeke and Mauch trying to decide if he wants to continue to bounce back to the right or make another cut back to the left. Ultimately, he makes the right decision (to cut back to the left), but in the split second he hesitates in making the decision he loses his opportunity to leave the scrum altogether and break a big gain. It’s those fractions of a second that separate the great from the good."

Again, I am a fan of White, but also of Josh Q . .  so,  what's a fan to do?

I think White did fine on that play tbh, the DT in the B gap was screaming over to cover the A gap to stop white from his opprotunity "leave the scrum", so he hesi and jabbbed to setup up his blocker, I think only CJ2k/AP/saquon could blow past that DT trying to hold his assignment. Its the endzone view that really paints the picture. 1 technique goes upfield forces white to cutback right, he now does 3 steps; jab(1) to go back left (sees the DT trying tocrossface and cover his gap on the RT left shoulder) he(white) takes one travel step(2), hesi jabs(3) to setup the block and ends up with the gain.

I think its a little harsh because i really think only CJ2k could blow past that DT

There’s a later 1 ud run where Otton gets destroyed to the inside. Whites pause in getting to the line actually helps him because the DE goes by

multiple coaches have commented on what anyone can see with their eyes.  He most often has a shuffle step before the line

still a huge fan. The only question was woukd a new OC be willing to shift toward the rookie IF the film shows White hesitating?

White literally just showed that he's RB1 here and why.

I would expect Bucky to get a slightly similar split that Edmunds/Tucker had last season (maybe a little more, as I expect us to run more).

But, until his overall receiving skillset and pass protection improve; Rachaad is the top dog.

*Side note*

Glad to see Tucker stick. He brings that home run speed that White and Irving don't.

I think Bucky’s presence and the teams overt acknowledgement of him (as well as Tucker’s improvement over last season) is maybe intended to put some pressure on White?

As much as I love White, I still see the hesitation and stutter step before hitting holes. Could just be bad habits from the poor run blocking from last year, but it’s still causing that hesitation.

I don’t think it’s much of a deal killer as he’s such a sneaky pass catching option. However, that’s not a true RB1. Hope he can shake what I’ll term as ‘the yips’.

Even still, the run game will be much improved due to the interior line, more talent & scheme improvement.

Yup. There is a reason he was in street clothes the first two games, and him falling down the depth chart wasn't that reason.

Agreed.

lol, the season hasn't even started? Didnt you orgiinally mention  2025 and beyond (skipping this season) you flippin troll lol

What were your TOEFL scores again?

FWIW . . .

"White is coming off a 990-yard rushing season but the oddsmakers have his over/under 2024 rushing total at 825.5 yards. For perspective, 20 running backs finished with 900 or more rushing yards last season."

The best thing for the Bucs is that he stays RB1 all season and runs for 1200 yards (and maybe 75 receptions!).  I am a big fan.  It is the coaches -- every single one of them lol - who have been commenting about his dancing behind the line.

White is going to be a weapon in this offense along with Otton and the rest of the WRs.  Just have to hope the OL holds up though...

It is the coaches -- every single one of them lol - who have been commenting about his dancing behind the line.

And, every single one of them commented that he improved in that aspect as last season played out.

And, that the trend has continued throughout this camp.

Agreed, but thats why Josh Q's game tape and analysis is interesting.  You can see him do it, but still succeed. Josh Q's expression is leaving meat on the bone.

Don't need to say that Josh Q is often praised here for his film breakdowns

And again, I am not ADVOCATING for Bucky Irving or against White. I am only raising this topic as one of several interesting sub-stories to the season. I would love to see us have both of those guys and Tucker killing it.

Correct. Which is why is was hilarious to see the football savant suggest White may be moving down the depth chart, even after seeing White in street clothes for the first two preseason games. Most people understood exactly what that meant. And then there's the football savant.

I still think the Bucs need to add a veteran RB.  They had Edmonds on the team for a reason.  Whether Irving and Tucker can run block and do the little things right when the shit hits the fan during the regular season is unknown.  There are veteran RBs who have been cut loose.  Whether any of them have anything left in the tank I don't know.  Samaje Perine is one possibility.

I can understand the intent, but the team & staff feel they have the “right guys” - and are only looking for the same types. Not sure they will target a 4th RB when there are some other position groups where we’re even thinner.

Edge still comes to mind.
