it seemed like the entire right side of the OL collapsed
Not sure and definitely have to rewatch, but early White goes for 5 right then a couple up the middle and then 5 left.
I am sure someone (or PR ) will chime in on what happened, but I wonder about the difference based on the type of run. No really big runs in the game and it didnt seem like the O-line was able to get up to the next level, so I assume that is their D line dominating are O-line overall.
To that point, I think our top tacklers are DBs and maybe Dennis? Their top tacklers are likely their LBs and D-line, especially TFLs. I think they just won the trenches on both sides of the ball?
Hard to say
yesterday was bad. I have to re-watch to confirm but it seemed like the entire right side of the OL collapsed when it was time for White to get the ball. Mauch has been awful this yearSome of these plays are DOA, White is getting tackled as soon as he gets the hand off.
Yeah, all of the blocking was bad yesterday - both run and pass. Their DL really overwhelmed our OL, which makes it that much more surprising the Bucs won the football game. There have been more than a few plays this season where even Wirfs hasn't looked like his old self.
White hasn't been dancing behind the line like he used to, something he improved upon towards the end of last season. He's slamming the ball up in there. There just hasn't been anywhere for RB1 to go.

Terrible game to compare RBs, but (of course) you brought it up :-)
White has two 5 yard runs early (so there are places "to go"), but he adds in two ZEROES and a negative run (-1) and a bunch of ones and 2s. Irving has one negative run (-1), but his stock run IN THIS GAME is a 2 or 3yds (compared to 1 and 2) and then he adds in 6s and a 4.
the point: the running in this game is MUCH MORE reflective of the line play, but that potential for poor LINE PLAY is one reason the coaches would probably want hard hole hitters over White's more patient approach
which brings us back to the initial question "your" trying to troll (lmao) . . .
If White wasn't as dynamic as he is catching the ball he'd already be on the bench or on his way there.
When talking about how the offensive line being overwhelmed and the impact it had on the run game and passing game - undervalues how good Mayfield was in that game. He didn’t break, he found a way. He threw just 12 passes and 7 of those went to Godwin… we should not have won.
Buccaneer offense got ahead, and it changed Detroits game plan. The one time Detroit took the lead, Mayfield took his Bucs right down the field and scored an answering TD. That allowed us to play the type of defense that could stymie them.
Detroit was behind, and couldn’t just stay with the run and grind out clock/yards/scores.
Some suspect playcalling by Detroit helped - but it speaks to the funk the Detroit offense was in.
It was a great complementary football. It is crazy that the “bend-but-don’t-break” 3-4 was able to lock down the RedZone - worked with the personnel we had available (including losing Vita)!? The defense really spooked/confused Goff more so than the previous 3 games.

The plays Mayfield made outside of the pocket is the only reason the offense had more than 10 points.

Todd "Cover ZERO guy" Bowles has been playing more and more Zone every year. That hasn't changed this season, as he's still playing a shitload of Zone.
The defensive performance, without Winfield or any consistent pass rush, was very surprising to watch. Great job by the players and defensive staff.
Great job to fight as they did whether we win or lose. Lots of credit to Bowles and his team.
that said, if the Lions ST doesn’t run on the field at a time when it was not only unnecessary but wouldn’t have worked anyway, don’t they just have a very short FG to win?
again take nothing away for the fight and effort
Could be just their gameplan. Lions ran their base 4-3 defense even when we ran our 3 WR sets which means Godwin had a LB on him - not literally but zone responsibility wise. DET aim was to make Baker beat you with his arm and he did just enough. I think their DL got the best of our OL, and our DL held their own to say that their OL didn't completely dominate us yesterday.it seemed like the entire right side of the OL collapsed

Hell yeah. Zyon has made enough plays in zone coverage in a game than Carlton Davis ever has. Kudos to him and Bowles for getting it doneWhen talking about how the offensive line being overwhelmed and the impact it had on the run game and passing game - undervalues how good Mayfield was in that game

Yes, clearly Baker’s ability to get outside was the key. Goff has almost no movement, and he kind of panics when he gets consistent pressure. Baker was getting more pressure, and his ability to move is the reason we were able to score more than 10 points.
Are we saying the same thing?

Yeah, it isn’t that I haven’t seen Bowles play a lot of zone, it’s just that I didn’t think the D-line would be able to pressure Goff enough for the players we had available in the secondary, to be as effective as they were!
Zyon was lights out, Dean was great (excluding one negative play early), Whitehead was unbelievable, Izien - a pick and 2PD’s as a Safety(!), and then Dennis - wow I think Dennis may have played himself into the starting ILB role.
It also seemed to me that much of the poor decisions by Lions/Goff were due to being behind made them a feel like they HAD to throw it…55 pass attempts!?
Bucs were tough against the run for most of the game - I especially loved seeing Yaya & Whitehead throw Montgomery out of the club…
This team is going to win games through the passing game but if a running game materializes it will help seal up games down the stretch. Like I have said earlier, Godwin, EVans McMillan, Palmer, Otton, White/Irving. Who are you going to cover in pass defense? Mismatches everywhere.
Coen knows this but he is still feeling out his personnel and over time we are going to see the offense really take off.
Chris Long mentioned the 11 yard drift drops Baker was resorting to against Detroit. It was likely done inadvertently to adjust for Hutchinson beating Skule like a drum, they’ll have to clean that up this week.
Some of these plays are DOA, White is getting tackled as soon as he gets the hand off.
Yep.
The film is pretty damning.
And, it's back-to-back weeks with the interior getting blown up constantly in the run game.
Mauch has been absolutely awful.
Mauch has been absolutely awful.
Unless he figures out how to be a NFL player, they’ll probably have to use another day 2 pick on a Guard. The right side of the OL was dogshit on Sunday.
Just watched the all 22 on our offensive plays.
That Lion defense made it tough, they made sure that there weren’t a lot of opportunities. Coen schemed a good game (planned some answers) & Baker caught them the few times there were opportunities, and extended/created some plays with his feet to overcome the poor line play, and resultant lack of a running game.
While we didn’t always score points, we made enough first downs when we didn’t score to play some field position/make Detroit play catch up into the teeth of our defense.
The Lions made some weird decisions and mistakes - but I still can’t say enough about how our “next men up” on defense played.
incredible win.
Need them both, as others have said
Including SR
"White was in for 34 (71%) while Irving was in for 17 (35%).
That was an upgrade in usage for Irving, which was good to see. They used a little more of the “Pony” package, which is a formation that has both running backs on the field at the same time, and even scored a touchdown using that personnel on a the 41 yard touchdown to Chris Godwin in the first half. It seems that good things happen when they’re on the field together."
