God said this and god said that. Did god actually write the bible himself or was it men such as ourselves?
who the hell knows??
Actually we know that for a fact. What we don't know is if those people were inspired by a mythical divine entitle or not. We know they wrote what we call the Bible though. No myth or mystery there. We also know the power to be of the time voted on which authors would become part of the Bible so men cherry picked what they wanted taught to the public. Still to this day most religious people cherry pick what makes them feel the best and forget the rest. Hence today's cafeteria religions. YAY!
We do know God speaks through Tim Tebow.

If heaven is full of people like you, I don't want to go anyway. Night night.
Amen. I like black Tims and black hoodies.

Blasphemy !
I hope Vilma gets a large mouth carpet croaker penis rubbed on his lips. I get the issue. It makes people uncomfortable. Big deal. He's a millionaire. Is he not comfortable in his own skin?I would shower in a room full of gay men every Sunday with a smile if I made the kind off ???????? he did. Just stfu and be grateful you are set, and let others do their harmless nonsense. Know thyself. And all will be fine in the end.
In Escobar's world, only simple minded fools have good reading comprehension skills.
In Escobar's world, he is a coward . . . he made a comparison between homosexuality and kidnapping etc. and now he is running from it. Escobar is driven by an extreme religious view. Most Christians do NOT feel like Escobar. The problem for "most" Christians is that people like Escobar, the "squeeky wheels" of Christiantiy, spout twisted nonsense from on top of soapboxes, claiming its all from a book . . . a book Escobar reads in his own twisted way, but then claims its is God's way. It's a shame, really.
Most of my best friends are Christians, so I don't judge and usually keep my mouth shut about religion....but when some over zealous A-hole starts quoting scripture and preaching about how to live your life, I can't help myself.
What's funny is just how far this thread has progressed away from what Vilma actually said and meant. His question was how he would respond to an openly gay teammate who looked at him in the shower. It wasn't about actually being in the shower, just some intimate action between him and an openly gay man while in an intimate setting.I know, I'm guilty of pulling it in another direction than originally intended as much as anyone, but the answer to his question is obviously a complex, complicated and deeply emotional one that none of us seem to be in agreement on.I hope he and others like him find the right answer for them because as we have illustrated here, there is no answer that befits all viewpoints. As it is a professional environment, some answer is going to have to come forward. The one thing I believe we can all agree on is that no one wants to be demonized and vilified for their viewpoint. Just because someone wouldn't feel uncomfortable in that situation doesn't mean they are homosexual, and just because someone would feel uncomfortable in that situation doesn't mean they are a closeted homosexual. The world is a much bigger, grander and more beautiful place than can be described in such black and white terms. For me, this thread has run its course and I'm glad I got to interact with everyone and see all the different views on this topic. The truth is that, a year from now, at least one openly homosexual man will have played an entire season in the National Football League. Perhaps it will lead to other complicated situations that none of us can predict right now, and perhaps nothing of any significance will occur at all. Only time will tell.
This. The thread has gone down a completely false narrative. Those who are "supportive" of Vilma have merely pointed out that he is correct in that the first openly gay player in the locker room will create issues that need to be dealt with, and he in particular does not have all the answers. The response has been to engage in an argument on the pros and cons of homosexuality which was NEVER the issue. Sticking your head in the sand and shouting bigot resolves nothing. I credit Buccaneer4ever for realizing this.
You hate Christianity because you hate accountability.
No. I hate Christianity because organized religion is complete bullsh!t and it causes much more harm than good. .
I agree that organized religions are tragically flawed, but they are flawed because they are human. Don't get me wrong, I agree with your point generally, the only place I would potentially differ is whether, in total, they cause more harm than good. Who knows? I guess that could be right, but I also think the analysis is colored by cartoon characters by Escobar, who leave people on the fringes thinking his views and behavior are "Christian" when they are actually only views held by a tiny very vocal minority. Just looking at Christianity as an example, for every Escobar there are probably 100s of thousands, if not more, of Christians doing nothing but good work in the world primarily (not exclusively) because of their religious views. You have to remember that for every Escobar, for every story of a bad Catholic priest etc., there are many, many more Christians across the world helping people of all faiths, of all genders and races WITHOUT asking anything in return. All people are flawed so organized religions are flawed, but the basic premise of Christianity is still to do on to others and to be your brother's keeper etc. Getting poast Christians there are literally millions of Muslims Buddhist Hindus etc. who use their religious beliefs to great ends. That said, its a fair point JDub and I am not criticizing it, you may be right.

Same for me. I grew up in an ultra Christian family so I know enough to put any Christian in their place and using scriptures they can't even do anything about it. I just hate shitting on their parade if I can help it. :p
Leviticus 20:13"If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense." (NLT)Such a loving god.
''Exodus 35:2 Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.''Lol. Sh!t. Earn enough money to feed my family and be put to death.....or let my family starve and go on living? What a dilemma.
I know I promised not to comment on any more religious stuff in here, but it's always amused me that there is no passage in the Bible which has Jesus referring to homosexuality in any way. In fact, there are 7 different references that are used by zealots to demonize homosexuality. The main one is the Leviticus one. There are hundreds of references to loving each other, helping the poor and the disadvantaged, and treating everyone equally. The zealots like to ignore those. It's sad.

Yet on the other end of the spectrum there are others who take the "do not judge" and"love thy neighbor" mantra to excuse any and all kind of behavior and in essence give carte blanche for people to do whatever they want. It doesn't. Jesus also said to "judge righteously" which means that if someone sins you are obligated to point out that sin. Otherwise how can they seek forgiveness? That does not mean you do not love them, but it doesn't mean you condone all their actions either.
