It's hard for me to understand. If you were in a situation where you had to shower with a gay dude, would you like walk in and stare him down the entire time just to make sure he wasn't looking at you? Would you stare, angrily, at his penis just to make sure it didn't get hard? I would just, ya know, go take a shower and then leave and probably wouldn't notice/care who was in there.

Homophobic literally means that homosexuals scare the living sh!t out of you to the point where it would give you anxiety to be near them. Vilma is just being irrational.
"Homophobic" is a made-up word that was popularized specifically to brand any concerns with homosexuality and it's integration into our society as irrational and based off of fear and delegitimize any conversation about issues which are clearly legitimate. Like showering. And adoption. And whether marriage is "tolerance" or "approval", which are two different concepts. All of these things are, in fact, things we can and should have a real conversation, but we won't because of the politics. Just like we can't really talk about race because once one "side" hears something they don't like, they end the conversation by screaming "Racism!" The example being used, If we had a workplace where, as a basic part of the work environment, women had to shower with men, we all know the full force of the sexual harassment and grievance industry and the government and the EEOC would be all over it with hour long specials on MSNBC about men trying to control women's bodies. In the rush for people to defend one groups rights though, they forget that other groups (in this case heterosexual males) have rights too. And people here who earlier in the thread said it was just something "uncomfortable" are completely oblivious to the fact that anything a male does -- or merely appears to do -- of a sexual or sexist manner, that makes a female uncomfortable, is, by law, harassment. Homosexuality is here to stay. There are rights that they still need protected and advocated for. And they still need protection from harassment because it does exist. But that also does not mean delegitimizing and belittling the legitimate concerns of others and ignoring their rights either. There is a big difference between not wanting to shower with someone, and thinking they should be stoned to death. Lumping the two together is the sign of a weak mind.

Being gay is as much of a choice as being straight is. Neither of those are choices. Neither is race. Do you like women? Why is that? Oh because that is how you FEEL. Kind of like how gay people FEEL the way they do? Last time I checked you might be able to control certain feelings and how you act on them. But that doesn't change how you FEEL.
