http://overthecap.com/calculator/ Someone at a NFL board I post at made a thread about this site, it's pretty damn cool. You can see how much cap space we have and how much we will have if we cut certain guys.
The distribution of caps space is pretty even for both sides of the ball. However, as we all knows several players are currently overpaid and need to take pay cuts or be cut/traded.
Well that is depressing. Goldson's money is fully guaranteed next year. I doubt he will be here in 2015 though, unless Lovie and Frazier can get something good out of him. From a cap perspective, if Nicks isn't going to be able to play well, it would be best if his toe forces him to retire.
Koenen looks all but toast. Bucs can upgrade with a younger, cheaper leg.Landri is a good fit for the new scheme but there are better options available in free agency so he may be in jeopardy to be cut.Not sure what Lovie feels about Carimi so that is something to watch for as he may not have a future with this team with that cap number if he isn't projected as a starter.Bowers to me is a toss up but I think Lovie can give him the kick in the ass he needs to be a situational guy. Crabtree is serviceable at that cap cost so I think he sticks. Stocker to me probably is toast but you never know haha.
Cutting Penn, Joseph and Koenen saves us a lot of money. That money can be spent on much better talent.

First thing I noticed and thought!

Penn isn't so simple to replace but there is much to be earned by bringing in a younger, cheaper, and better LT. This also allows Dotson to continue to flourish at RT too and leaves the interior to be addressed. Joseph I think should be gone but he may be given a mulligan for another go.
I think a lot depends on the draft. If the Bucs can sign a DE like Allen or Hardy and depending on who is there with the 7th pick. If all the QBs go before us and somehow Matthews slips to us at 7...I could see the Bucs drafting him and cutting Penn. Cut them along with Joseph and Koenen and you have a ton of cap space. You can then use that money to go out and sign a couple of guards. I also would cut Nicks. It's only a couple million this year...but next year it frees up $10 million.

Yea, I wouldn't be too upset if Penn came back, but I really hope Joseph goes. He's taking up way too much cap space and we could easily find someone to play just as good as him, if not better. Hell, Carimi or Meredith could probably do just as good as a job as Joseph.
