In his Presser today, he said he was told when a receiver is going out of bounds forward or sideways, he does NOT need to get his heels down. When falling out BACKWARDS, as Jackson was, he DOES have to get his heels down inbounds. LOL; I wonder how many players know that... ;D
You never need to get your heels down, but if the heels come down, they have to come down in bounds.
First time I've ever seen the call. Luckily it wasn't an important play.
I don't think Schiano had a presser today. I'm almost certain Tuesday is a team off day.

It was yesterday.
More NFL stupidity coming to light...
Heel gate
How does your heel come down out of bounds while your toes are in bounds when you are moving forward? I would think that is anatomically impossible...
Stupidest rule discovery since the tuck rule....
The NFL has the worst and most inconsistent rules I have ever seen.

The simplest explanation is often the easiest to understand and this is about as succinct as you can get. Bravo.
So as long as a recievers toes touch inbounds it is a catch.....unless he is going out of bounds backwards.....thenhis heels have to come down and touch in bounds also. Lol. Yet one more completely ridiculous nonsense rule that allows the NFL to control the outcome of a game. One more way for them to convince you a cacth is not really a catch.
and when playing in a snow covered field such as the eagles and baltimore recievers falling backwards ..the refs just say... "whatever...it's close".....
What bothers me more than the rule is that our coach needed it explaining to him when a large number of posters on here already knew and understood why the TD wasn't allowed. For a guy who's main selling point is that he's meant to be so on top every little detail and a disciplinarian he sure does seem to have a limited knowledge of the rules and an undisciplined team on the field.
So a receiver falls sideways and either the left side of his left foot or right side of his right foot touches white it is a catch but the heel touches white, no catch. What is so d@mn special about the heel?
